I just got back from Transformers, IT WAS DAMN AWESOME!

I was really surprised how this movie turned out: Really really good. I mean it's based on some childhood cartoon. Look what they did with Power Rangers. (well that was in the 90s, but still)

I want one'a them Xbox transformers.

I concur - I blame Beast Machines for starting the slippery slope, and Robots in Disguise for steepening the angle.

The Beast series tend to mess with the characters way too often

Take a look at Waspinator. He starts off as the goofy Kenny of the series. He gets possesed at one point by Starscream's spark. At the end of Beast Wars he stays on ancient Earth as a god for prehistoric humans. In Beast Machines his spark is transferred into Thrust. At the end of the series he's reduced to a small techno-organic wasp with Thrust's head

And in the Universe series, he's back to his original body with no explanation whatsoever AND with the good guys

I'm gonna go see it too. Later this week, probaly.

Looks awesome, I hope there's a battle with Optimistic Prime in it.

This is why I refused to acknowledge the existence of Beast Machines for the longest time. It ****ed everything up (and turned Silverbolt all angsty ronin on us).

But back to the topic of the movie...it was $8.50 well wasted in my books.

Did Optimus really say "Do a barrel roll!"

No, but one robot did a barrel roll in a quickie scene in the middle of the credits. He also said something in robot gibberish which I'm assuming translates to "do a barrel roll."

And then Armada kind of shot it into the ninth layer of hell.

Though the PS2 game on it was pretty fun.

Might go see the movie tomorrow.

The sequel needs to have Shockwave. >8(

When the Autobots are outside Hoover Dam, Optimus Prime seems to make it really clear that they're retrieving it to destroy it.

There doesn't seem to be any other way to be rid of the Allspark than through sacrifice. Outside of the Hoover Dam was probably when Prime was mentioning that he'd combine it with the Spark in his chest to overload it. The only other option presented itself when Sam was able to shove it into Megatron, but considering how violent and dangerous the Decepticons happened to be, that probably wasn't something that Prime saw as feasible.
