Spoilers:
I swear I can remember him saying that they could destroy it OR insert it into his chest, but I was probably hallucinating.

Honestly, I can't be 100% sure without seeing it again, but:

Spoilers:
If destroying the Allspark without the loss of life was an option, why would you bother mentioning the element of sacrifice? It was a last resort to be executed only if they had failed to defend the Allspark from the Decepticons.

Saw it yesterday...and I gotta say I've never been a hardcore fan, but that was 10 DIFFERENT FLAVOURS OF PURE AWESOMENESS

And it had Linkin Park at the credits! Rock on!

that was because he did the song at the end credits, its on his new cd, Minutes to Midnight, its called "What I've Done'.

2 things sorta bothered me about this movie aside from it's total rapage of my childhood
the first (and I don't think I'm spoiling anything) was Optimus Prime's reminding me of King Kong. The two scenes this is most evident are the Bridge scenes and his final battle with Megatron (if you've seen it you know what I'm talking about)
the second was Ironhide, he was cool don't get me wrong, he stole a few good scenes, but he didn't use any of his classic catchphrases. I wanted to hear him say "Decepticreeps" and "time to bust some Deceptichops"

Spoilers:
I've been thinking about it more, and I think the reason I didn't like it that much is because it tried to be serious and over-the-top cartoony at the same time. I mean, first you have soldiers and innocent villagers being attacked and killed by maniacal robots with no remorse, this kid gets attacked and nearly killed over and over by an evil Deceptacon, the Autobots finally appear before the humans in all their glory... then they start talking like gangstas and cartoon characters and the wacky hijinks follow before it gets all serious again and the battle enters the city with more innocent people getting killed/violence/etc. I wish they had just picked either "serious" or "comic book" style and gone with one instead of both. It didn't seem to work that way.

Oh Michael Bay, what would we ever do without you? Probably have a better time watching this movie that's for sure. I have never been a fan of transformers. Their "real" time ended somewhere in the middle of my early childhood so I never really had the chance. Regardless, this movie looked amazing. Something about big robots batting the crap out of each other appeals to each and every guy for some reason. And in that case, this movie took the cake.
What I mean by that is, the movie is beautiful. While it's editing completely sucked, (Look at the chase scene instantly changing from afternoon to night) it's CGI was one of, if not the best I've ever seen in a movie. But that's the only thing. When you look at it, Transformers is only about the visuals. The story is confusing and the characters are really shallow. The bots were hard to tell each other apart and frankly, I still don't know who died and who lived.
While this isn't a complete change for Bay's less then stellar career, it is a step in the right direction. I just wish this film would've known what course to take. It tried to appeal to too many people with such a limited basis. You've got the cartoon take, the serious action, but the most annoying was the sexual jokes placed oddly in the film. Completely unnecessary. I also wish Prime himself would've had a bigger part, as it barely seemed he should deem himself the leader. Though I liked all the nods to the past series.
So there you have it. This film is all about the visuals. But when it gets down to it, that's it.
