why don't they like... have pool drains consisting of grating around the perimeter, instead of just holes

hell stuff like this wouldn't happen since the suction in a given area would be much lower

They should make multiple holes with an inferior suction power to todays (unfortunately) ideal standards for a pool drain. Thus it is spread out and injuries are probably 100% avoidable.
