It's not like he made a lot of mistakes as a mod or anything. :\

I can understand that he's concerned about losing friends, though. Personally, if I were in such a situation I wouldn't care too much about people being offended if some of their topics were quite rightly deleted for being worthless, because that's a dumb reason to be mad or complain, but hey, I think differently from Hatman, and that's OK.
