Believe it or not, people posting here about the bot isn't helpful. It would probably be best to PM a wiki sysop about it.

But actually, don't, or that sysop's PM box will fill up fast. Chances are, BM or I will see it and deal with it immediately.

This is something that Retriever II will probably have to deal with

my suggestion is to ignore it and delete the pages

though it's a bit strange for me to say this, it might actually be better if the users aren't blocked - they're unlikely to do anything after they make their spammy articles, and obviously you can't register the same username twice... so we might actually stop a few that way. Plus it'll act as evidence at a later stage

hello people

got a slight problem... the competition pages only list winners, not runners up or top 5s. As such I have created a rather crappy template

http://wiki.mfgg.net/index.p...s#.23_121_-_180

it's likely to be altered over time because it's a bit sucky. It can also be used for other competitions

basically, I want to know how many people have got more than 5 repeat badges, but in order to do so, this needs filling in

so, can I count on MFGG?

Spambot activities have increased. It's getting a little out of hand. Is there anything we can do to stop them from creating accounts? Can't we at least put one of those random letters image tests in the account creation?

Yeah, do that.

I wouldn't have thought it'd be too difficult to install a captcha.

It's upgraded.

But actually as it turns out MediaWiki still does not include any anti-spam features by default and I'm going to have to install an extension.

<3

although you might want to change the default value for 'enclose' to "div" since it defaults to "pre" which has no qualms about running straight over floating elements and right off the pager

Come again?

the "source" tag for geshi has an optional "enclose" attribute

problem is it defaults to "pre" if you don't define it so the text ends up over the top of over elements and can go off the page if it's long enough; if it's set to "div" it won't do that

like this although you won't be able to see it unless you resize the window some
