Please search for glitches..., An engine I made...

so I made a new engine and all I need to know if it has any glitches.... because itsmy first engine....

i made it from Ultramarios "simplest" engine

now that I think about it is not so much of my engine...

..anyway, the point is please check for glitches....

First thing first, Mario stays in his jumping pose when you land. He returns to normal after you move. I'll look for more.

Mario can not ducks in this engine.

Technically that's not a glitch, but just a lack of a feature.

Glitches would be where something is meant to work a certain way, but doesn't.

I don't like how "G" is jump. That should be changed. Besides that and the jump sprite thingy its good!

although the reason why I used 'G' as the jump button is beecause it's next to 'H' which is the running button

Some people use Z and X for the buttons - they're placed better on the keyboard for use as controls anyway. I think X is usually designated for jumping, though, and Z for running.

Z and X feels better too, because it feels like a gaming system.

If you hold left and right togather, he stays in place. Try to fix that.

I don't like X and Z because they're in the corner of the keyboard....

.... I purposely made it when I press left and right at hte same time so they would cancel each other out... but thanks for noticing....

Doesn't that make the keys easier to reach?

You have to reach over more keys to get to G and H than you do to get to Z and X.

Also, I personally find the different distances that the G/H keys and the arrow keys are away from you a bit awkward.

I prefer keys on the bottom row of the keyboard, with the "outer" key (the one furthest to the left) to be jumping. G and H are okay though (but I never would have found them without reading sonic_luigi15's post). OK, glitch list:

• Mario turns around in mid-air if no direction is pressed (or if the jump key is repeatedly pressed and released)
• Mario doesn't enter falling animation if no direction is pressed UNLESS the jump key is released on the way down
• Run key doesn't increase Mario's top speed but causes instant acceleration instead
• Mario enters standing animation while sliding on the ground (not necessarily a glitch, but be aware that Nintendo's games keep him in walking animation)
• Mario's running jump goes slightly higher if he clips the very edge of the platform on the way up

-I prrposely put that feature in case mario jumps with no left/right button being pressed 50% chance facing left / 50% chance facing right...

-I have no excuse for the second glich I'll fix that later

-It's not supposed to, jump height matters whether you tap the jump button or press the button completely down...

-It's supposed to be that way just for you to make a little more effort in your jumps...

The jump sprite glitch, and sometimes when you jump without pressing an arrow, you will switch directions randomly even if you only press the jump button.

And why 'H' is the running button? because it's right next to 'G' which is the jump button, perhaps? Not trying to sound like an ass, but... give some better reasons.

This "feature" serves no other purpose than make things look weird.

It should be that Mario keeps facing the direction he's already facing if he jumps. Doing things that way makes him turn around for no reason at all sometimes.

How does that have anything to do with xn--e5x's comment? He was talking about horizontal acceleration - i.e., Mario goes to full speed instantly when the run key is pressed, though that shouldn't happen.

The thing is that that makes no physical sense whatsoever. It sounds like you're just searching for an excuse not to fix that glitch. Sorry if I sound harsh, but still.

z & x suck if you have a european keyboard like me.

Why do they suck on European keyboard?

they suck on a European Keyboard since on a Euorpean Keyboard the "Z" key is where the "Y" key would be on a normal keyboard and the "X" key is where the it would normally be on a keyboard


so they are spread apart which is not good lol

Yeah, the G/h has to change.

Personally, I wouldn't try to use the Shift button, because I usually find out my computer has the Sticky Keys function.
