OLD Super Mario Bros. (WIP) 4000+ dl, UPDATE 7.5! My birthday update!

This game is Super Mario one based, using the original 8-bit graphics. More information about my game can be found on the old smb website, along with screenshots and the latest download.

The collision is messed up. Getting hit by a Chain Chomp kills it, turning it into a goomba.

EDIT:

A result of the third one caused the goomba to go through the blocks a little. Also, as long as you're on a pipe, you can go down it.

ya i gotta check vspeed when jumping on a chain chomp.

the goomba's are a pain... im gonna play around with collisions and masks and see if i can fix. Hello placed the y origin in the center so that might have something to... ya ill figure it out. anyone else?

well i must say its a good use of hello's engine thats for sure, but try and fix the coin blocks it had to hit it 2times before getting a coin. i only played level 1 though. overall its an 7.5/10 since you used someone elses engine but you did i could job editing it! keep up this game, i love the chain chomp too.

In the desert level you should change the pallete for enemys, even in the underground parts.

Done. Tell me if it is actually updated cause it gave me a wierd error when it finished but said it was sussesful

This is a fine game but you should add crouching and make 1-ups less common.

"PRESS START" I don't know about you but I don't have a start button...or a select button...

Also at one point you can run through the sky, its in the underground at level 2 after the pipes and before the fire spinner thing.

@ Firestar: I am editing the first level and taking the 1 ups out
i was gonna add ducking later cause it isn't nessasary

@ Elyk19: In that same room at the top it shows the controls and stuff...

@ cyberkid: Um you can still make one...
just name it something different and make different levels and its fine with me
also i can help you a bit cause theres some errors that come with the engine that needs to be worked out

also im not uploading yet but i changed level 2-1 to 2-4 and added levels 2-1 and 1-3.
And then i made it so big mario can't walk in too small of spaces (high). I think this might solve a bit of getting stuck in blocks.
And i finally found a solotion to the goomba problems. Im gonna upload the new version when i get the peice of code into all enemies/ mushrooms
Right now im finding a poison mushroom sprite cause im still using the 16 bit one...
anyone else?

surprisingly i googled and didn't find any 8-bit poison mushes... but can any1 confirm that there black?

Marios mask is way to big......i got killed and the goomba did not even touch me, i was standing then the goomba was moving towards me and when it came close i died. so either the goombas mask or marios mask is too big.

I have A poisen mushroom sprite that I am using for my game do you want it?

It's the goomba's mask; it happened to me, too.

Best Games Forever, this is really good! You edited this really well! However, for things like goombas and mushrooms falling down, you really need to edit the gravity, it's pretty messed up.

And about the 8-bit poison mush, it's just a recolor of the regular mushroom, it's not much.

OK i added a black piranha (shoots fireballs at you)
its gonna be in level 1-1 for now

im gonna release update 2 soon but i want a wav to mp3 converter so i can make clean rips and convert them

Also i am thinking of making two versions: compressed and uncompressed.
compressed has very bad music quality, but it is smaller and better with dialup (like i have ) uncompressed will have the best quality and will be for people with faster internet connection.

also any suggestions for more enemies?

EDIT: I posted the images so you can take a look and tell me which one is the real one...

And i did not see that goomba glitch...
