This is a question to anyone who follows Marvel Comics/ The Amazing Spiderman series

Since when could Peter actually shoot web out of his hands without his web shooters? I know that this was normal from the start in Ultimate spiderman, but thats a different storyline. I know that he used to use webshooters, but what happened? I must have missed something.

He still uses the webshooters in Ultimate. I've played the game and read the comics online. He builds the webshooters himself, and makes the web fluid from a formula his late father made, who in this continuity was a scientist.

In the normal continuity, he dies in a story arc called Avengers Disassembled, and returns with new power, including organic webshooters. This was done around the time the first Spider-Man came to cinemas, as a tie-in.

The storyline in question was also horrible, to my knowledge.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it happened in "Spider-Man: The Other", didn't it?

I'm probably mixing up my facts again as usual but I specifically don't remember Peter dying in disassembled.

It was The Other, but I think Disassembled was going on at the same time.

I actually really like the way spidermans storyline is heading after civil war and all, it has a much more dramatic and personal feel than just a campy version of spiderman.

this is correct, he also gained night vision, the ability to feel with his webs, and the ability to stick to stuff without his hands and feet (for example, his back)
