My two pennies since we're being all movie like:
Meh. That pretty much sums this up.
To be honest I wasn't expecting the simpsons movie being amazing. The simps have lived a long life in the world of comedy but it's about time they threw in the towel. It's time for better and funnier things (family guy). I would have liked it if came out sooner... like four years sooner. There's no real reason to delay this movie other than to make you think WOW ITS BEEN FOUR YEARS IN THE MAKING.
The movie starts out the funniest. The first line from homer is what made me laugh the most the whole movie, and that's pretty bad considering it's... y'know... THE SIMPSONS. Anyway the plot of the movie is pretty... lame. It's been done thousands of times in the simpsons in the normal episodes. Basicly homer accidentally pollutes springfield and the government decides to take it off the map by covering it with a huge glass dome, trapping the simpsons and the rest of springfield. Eventually the citizens find out Homer is to blame and everyone turns against him. They escape to Alaska but hear that springfield is going to get bombed because they realise the dome is starting to fail. Homer stays while the family leave him and his selfishness behind. Homer gets lost and finds some weird indian lady or something which helps him realise he still loves his family and should go help them save springfield.
Now reading that kinda sounds like a regular Simpsons episodes, just longer. It isn't anymore dramatic than any other episode and it just felt like I was sitting at in my sofa watching another episode of the Simpsons, only I had to walk back home at the end of it. That isn't a bad thing though because the Simpsons is a cool show right?
Some of the things were just random and totally stupid. But not stupid in a good way. Like the presence of greenday and EVERYONE from springfield cheering them on. That's okay though cause they drown. That indian lady I mentioned earlier is also kinda stupid, since she magically knows homer's name and all. The movie also tried to be a bit more harsh like shows like family guy are starting to be. Like lenny making a sort of racist comment, and a couple of boob jokes. I don't mind that but it's starting to feel like that sort of humour is everywhere.
Overall this is pretty much as lengthened Simpsons episode with some special effects here and there. It's most likely you'll get a chuckle or two out of it but don't expect the crazy humour we first recieved when the Simpsons first came out. It's about time the series died out, and I think ending with a movie should be the best way (obviously not going to happen).
