An idea to toss around: Help forum mod?

The help forum doesn't need any modding. It's not very active and when someone acts like an idiot, members are usually quick enough to tell that person that they are breaking a rule.

I don't know if you've read the topic properly, or perhaps even visited the Help forum very much.

Especially considering the "it's not very active" part of what you said.

If there was a mod for the Help! forum it should be some one that can help people... so far the person best at that is grant... he's a truly patient and helpful person.

I support this idea. Help forum gets way too many useless topics.

As for the modder, Xgoff and Quicky are the best choices in my opinion.

But as it's been said, the administration team makes the final decision.

There is no need for a Help forum moderator. The help forum is not that active and global moderators have it taken care of.

@Aku: I'm ignoring you from this point on, because 1. it's clear that you're trying to get a rise out of me, and 2. anything I say will just make you think, "he's being defensive, which proves I'm right".

@SP and GG: No clue what you two are on about. The Help forum is quite active. The global mods are capable of taking care of it, but 1. having help would make it easier, and 2. there are some things there that could be cracked down harder on than they are now (like sticky-related things), and that could potentially be dealt with more heavily if the forum had more moderation.

No, it really is not. It's definitely not active enough to warrant a separate moderator. We don't really need anything to be cracked down on. If somebody posted something that was already answered in a sticky, simply point them to the sticky. You don't need moderator access to do that.

You're taking this awfully personally, dude.

You might as well have one for News, Wii Discussion, and Wi-fi Online Gaming then. There is absolutely no point in having one, especially since it is inactive. Also, if we really did need a moderator for Help, the admins would have done it months ago.

Everything's working out alright in my opinion, there isn't really a need for another mod.
I can understand where you're coming from and why it could help, but everyone seems to be running everything fine.

Cross-forum moderation is being filtered in anyway so if someone spams the thing to death, it'll be noticed. Besides, it's already covered by Global mods and admins.

anyway the forum isn't so brimming with activity that simply encouraging people to ignore stupid threads can't solve it; maybe if we had something like 4chan's system (threads stop bumping after a certain number of replies and you can choose to reply without bumping the thread) the dumbest topics would sink to the bottom even quicker than they already do

I've cleaned this thread up. I don't know if you noticed, but this is not the thread to ***** about mods or ***** about Grant.

The reason I was getting a bit impatient was not just because of you disagreeing that having a Help forum mod would be of any use; it was because of you and GG insisting, quite contrary to fact, that the Help forum is inactive. It is quite active - just take a look at how many threads are posted there, and it's not like they just get barely any replies either. The question of whether it's active enough for an additional moderator to be useful is another question - admittedly the forums that do have forum moderators, excluding Submit-It, are all even more active, and the line may just have been drawn below the four most active ones.
