I'm still not sure how I feel about Sega developing this... It probably will be a cheesy "Bowser and Robotnik team up to sabotage the Olympic games" kind of plot, as someone else already pointed out. And also as someone else pointed out, it needs some more of the insanity that we'd expect out of a Mario sports title, it can't just be a generic sports game with Mario and Sonic models duct-taped onto it.

As for why Sonic's behind everyone else... Let's say he's wearing weighted shoes so as to make the competition more fair for everyone else. Hopefully Sega will come up with a similar or better explanation.
