Fan Game Design Sins, What really annoys you?

Second'd. While Waligie Wee Edickione or however you spell it is awesome, the FIRST LEVEL contains a blind jump near the end... and if you miss it, you have to restart the window and resume eating underwear from like, the beginning.

It's just unfair when you're in a position like that. >=[ Where you can't see a pit so you don't know whether to jump as far as possible or just drop off the edge carefully.

Ruins a lot of fan games indeedie.

Making wall-jumping harder then pulling off a fatality with Ryu in Sonic 2.

And Leap of Faith isn't too bad, unless they're using the earlier mentioned "LOL RESTART ON TOUCH OMG" I mean, if I have a whole buncha lives and the level isn't HUGE HUGE HUGE, then I can handle a little trial and error.

I'm really annoyed by the Green Hill muzak on Sonic fan games. SONIC FAN GAMERS, IF YOU CAN HEAR ME, STOP USING THAT MUSIC UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOIN' WITH IT! srry caps lock :P

Sad thing is, I have commited almost all these sins. Anyway,

Lack of story is frustrating. It also is a massive PAIN when people use the same VGMusic MIDIs, the same sprites, and the same game engine as nearly everyone else. I also dislike "possesed ? Blocks"

Does that make the original Mario platformers annoying to you then, since they had barely any story to them? :|

Bad spelling. It may not seem like a big deal, but it makes a game look unprofessional.

Also, bad programming in general.

You know what I hate? People, who give so much **** about story.

I'd rather have a ****ty storyline than the need to constantly watch minutes long dialogue crap.

Having to download games to play them.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this already, but games that are hard for the wrong reasons get on my nerves. Examples of this are games in which you have an enemy almost touching you at the very start of a level, or games where you have to know the layout of the level in advance in order not to be killed (or where you get automatic death if you happen to take a wrong path without proper warning), or games whose major points of difficulty are centered around some out-of-place gimmick.

(I actually have a recently-submitted fangame in mind when saying these things, and I'll probably review that game soon.)

I think he means having to extract all the files to play the game. That's why I always use GM7 to make my games.

What do you mean extract files to play? It takes like 2 seconds..How lazy can you get.

I think you may have missed the point of the topic, sir.

The idea is to talk about design features that are bad and make fangames less fun to play.

Using pre-made engines without changing a SINGLE thing.

i agree, engines ARENT LEVEL EDITORS!!!
its fine to use an engine, just change things, add new moves, change sprites!

I Like Good Storylines, But No Storyline is OK, but if there is a bad Storyline, That's What I find of my Dislike.
