Fan Game Design Sins, What really annoys you?

Also, Hello games. "Super Mario Adventure Journey"

Except for his most recent one. It was fairly enjoyable.

Only problem Ive had is when people decide "THIS GAME NEEDS MORE NUDEZ" cause thats just silly

This game is fairly decent

I also hate it when the character does not have a jump sprite, or there a a glitch where the player keeps with the jump sprite even when he hits the ground.


It makes me ANGRY.





Also using "Move In A Direction" for movement. HATE HATE HATE.

Don't forget when they use an engine, and replace the skid sprite with a sprite of the opposite direction.

No, I mean when they replace the "change direction" sprite with an idle sprite facing the opposite direction.

I've seen it many times.

By the way, I guess this does kinda belong in Fangames.

A lot of times in platformer games, when you press left/right at the same time, something weird happens. It annoys me. :O

Yeah if he used different sprites and a different engine.

Sorry, I was talking in GM terms there, and personally i think sucky joypad controls are better than some of the odd configs i've seen for keyboard (since when was enter not start?) At least with a joypad you can bash buttons till something works.

Sounds nice.

Some games make me wonder if MFGG could get in trouble for redistribution of mp3 files in games.

bad music bad gfx poor physics no controller support bad level design bad presentation etc etc

granted the RIAA is about 1000 times more anal than most other companies regarding copyright

I actually very much dislike voice acting in fangames

Mostly because it sounds like ****.

By voice acting I mean full, coherent sentences, not HOO WAA GA HYAH ARRGGH WOOOWOFOfowfoosefosdf

Lack of jump sprite is always annoying.

Blind jumps (jump offscreen and pray for a platform).

GM particle effects (no more gray explosions, please).

Cross-overs.

Accessing a "?" block by bumping the side (or top).

Getting stuck on the sides of the "?" blocks.

Uh oh, looks like I suck. Mario makes a good amount of yelps in the game... maybe I'll try and tone it down.

I also am going to change the fall off the screen thing someone mentioned.

I kinda hate when the first level was really nice and fun, but they get lazy and make the next level really short and poor. AND exposng every enemy, secret, p-switch, surprise in the first or second level.
EDIT: Having "?" blocks but the fangame has no powerups so all of them have coins. It brings no purpose to the "?"
