I might end up making one of my own someday too (it occurred to me long ago that that might be something interesting to do), but it would be in the distant future if I did.

Must be the USA version, because (1) on an English-speaking board, "SMB2" is to be assumed by default to be the one more well-known to English-speaking countries, and (2) SMB2J's engine is almost just the same as SMB1's engine, so one might as well just ask for a SMB1 engine if they wanted to make a SMB2J-like game.

"Making one", as in "I made a little turnip-tossing test engine with SMB2 NES Toad graphics half a year ago", then yes. =D I think there's an old topic somewhere in the fangame section. =\
