Mario Magic

This is an early engine test. The A.I. Is not yet completed but it attacks and uses cards. Let me know what you think of this idea and if you encounter any bugs. As far as I know there no known bugs at the moment. I will give credit to all the original sprite rippers/editers.

Controls

You use only the mouse for this game. Press the right button on a card to show info on the right. Press left on a card to play it press the green button to go to the next round.

Rules

You are the bottom player. At the begining you get 6 cards. Power cards have a red background, creature cards have a blue background. Once a card has been used/banished it goes into the graveyard. The number of cards you still have in the deck is called the Pool.

There are 2 types of cards:

Power Cards
These cards add power to summon creatures. You play them during the "Play Power Cards" fase.

Creature Cards
These cards are creatures. The bottom left number is the Power cost for the creature. The right bottom numbers are Attack and Defend.

I think each fase speak for it self. During the attack fase you can press a creature in play to let it attack. If the creature opposes an enemy creature it can defend. In the enemy's turn you get the option to defend as well, by clicking on a creature in play.

The big star is your Power
The big mushroom is your Life
The smiley is your Pool
The skull is your graveyard

Hmm. This is a fairly polished game!

The attack system is vaugely reminiscent of Yu-Gi-Oh! when I used to play it. The phases (never any bad time for a spelling recap) are well thought, actually. However, there are a few problems with the basic engine.

First off, the enemy didn't die when I knocked his points out; it went to -1. This means that you have the "I'M DEAD OH NOES" event only happen at zero. For better results, use a "less than one" event. This doesn't include one, but zero and any negative numbers.

The idea of Power Cards is a good one. Kind of like Energy from the Pokemon series of cards, but it's used to create the army.

Being able to choose multiple attackers, however, is not. I know the concept is used in Yu-Gi-Oh! but in this game, it is overpowering, since the opponent doesn't have to defend himself. Automatic direct attacks. If you want to keep the concept, yet have it balanced, I highly reccomend that if the opponent has creatures on the board, they should be targeted first, and then if there are none, direct attacks should be possible. This keeps a sense of balance and difficulty.

Otherwise, this looks like a promising game. I look forward to seeing future improvements!

Falcon Punch is the result of the Sun heating fists. It drives the Blue Falcon. Heating causes destruction of water into the pain, where it then hurts, creating rain. Rain creates flowing water in tears, which can then be converted into other forms through more pain.

This game is very interesting indeed. Hope to see more characters participating in this.

And yeah, as Zero Kirby said, you just need to deal with triggering the "K.O. event".

Thanks for the reply's as for the difficulty. Each card will have it's own special ability. The combination of ability's and attacks makes it challenging and you have to figure out the right tactics. And with all card games there is an amount of luck involved. Right now I am searching for a correct background music.

Anyone any suggestions what music I should use for background music?
