Pixelart is a term used to describe pixelated artwork in general. If you check out DevArt(which is a reliable source for solving this dispute), you'll see that sprites, backrounds, tilesets, and other objects do not have their own category, but a subcategory of pixelart.
If you honestly think that you can prove me wrong, you obviously lack common sense.
