Team Fortress 2, and my ideas for it

haha so is there any way to somehow make TF2 easier on your connection


I mean, my computer runs it ****ing great and everything


but you know there's the whole lol****connection issue


I mean yeah, I know the solution is probably "hurf durf get better internet" which I would've done ages ago if I had the chance

but srsly

I have microphones off and all that fun ****, isn't there some other **** I could disable to

I dunno

somehow make it easier on my connection


I guess it's pretty ****ing far fetched but eh.


It's so bad I literally can't even join servers, and in the off chance I do get into one I immediately get kicked or just can't move.

What's your connection speed?

I think indian smoke signals transfer information faster than my connection

I'm not up to date on the whole naming conventions, is Utter **** slower or faster than DSL? :P

What's the speed in Kb/s?

5kb/s, 25kb/s if I'm lucky (it gets this high maybe once every few days)


I wouldn't mind these speeds if the connection itself were actually stable

It's not a problem though, this doesn't surprise me or anything and I planned on only playing it at my uncle's or dad's when I get the chance


But it would be kind of lovely if I could maybe get a chance for it to be at least playable at home

Are you using WiFi? If you are you can cut down on lag by using a wired connection. Also, are you sure your PC is well within the recommended specifications? Because that can affect latency aswell.

Ravan I believe there are console commands that can like limit **** but I can't remember what they are :X

I think they're cl variable though so look through the console command list some time.

making your graphics look like a ds game doesn't help your connection at all

First off ravan, you can try setting steam to 56k in the options.

Secondly, ****ing with rates is usually not a good thing to do.

aight so shutting off voice seems to have made it so I can at least join servers and spectate a bit, but whenever I actually join a team it gets to about ~800ms

Also; Steam's been set to 56k since I downloaded it :X

What do you mean "****ing with rates"? Don't do what MTC suggested? Or what?

No I meant with normal people with decent connections.

APPARENTLY putting my rate higher actually makes it BETTER

Whatever, regardless of that, I maxed it to 10000 and servers are actually playable now

Not like, super duper cable playable, but as playable as they were when I was living with my dad. AKA I can actually ****ing play it with some lag hiccups here and there now. **** yes.

Alright guys for my soundpack should I do sentry/engineer as dalek/davros?

Or just stick with the medic having all sorts of doctor who sounds?
