Plot Discussion, About the ending and other story points

This topic obviously contains major spoilers for the end of the game.

Ok, so what did you guys think of the end of the game? Personally, I thought it was a lot better than "Mario saves Peach, let's go home and have credits" in Paper Mario 1, and there was even a (very) small bit of story if you saved and continued the game file after the credits.

I did like the bit with Peach getting taken over by a demon, that was certainly original, but it didn't really seem to have much to do with anything else that was going on. I would have liked to know more about who this demon was and why she destroyed the town years ago, and all we get to know is that she was an acquaintance of Beldam. So what exactly was Beldam who's been around waiting for over 1000 years? And where did the map to the Crystal Stars come from? Was the mysterious robed figure that gave Peach the map really Beldam in disguise? And how did Grodus and the X-Nauts get ahold of not only one Crystal Star, but the locations of two others without the map? Did Beldam know where they were all along? Was that also part of the "rumors" she had spread?

Yeah, I know that's going a little too deep for a Mario game, but I'm still curious. Post your thoughts on the ending/plot.

Did you talk to the guy on the roof of the place you upgrade your partners with shine sprites? He can clear some of that stuff out for you for some coins.

Why was it absolutely necessary for PEACH to be possessed and not anyone else? O_o I think it would make more sense for it to be some evil person instead.

Then again I guess I have to be willing to accept a plot hole here or there. XD

And who drives that BOAT at the beginning and end of the game? I wanna know! ;_;

Maybe it had to be a human. Peach is just about the only HUMAN female in the game...

It had to be someone pure of heart to be possesed.

I think Beldam was the one in the cloak. She made the map put it into a box, only the pure of heart can open, and kept asking random people if they could open it until she found peach.

Altough I think she made that part up about only someone with a pure heart being able to open the box.

Or maybe she didn't. I dunno.

What I didn't understand was why the Shadow Queen needed Peach's body, when she is actually musch stronger in her true form. What's up with that, eh?

Probably because she was more vulnerable in her true form, or she needed to possess someone to bring out the full potential of her power. Keep in mind she wasn't accustomed to Peach's body yet when you fought her.

She was confined to the coffin in her true form. And plus, I think she would get stronger and stronger had Mario not stopped her.

She still used Peach's Body when she went into her True form. And Peach's body moved when the True form did the attacks. So i guess she needs a host to perform attacks and stuff.

Actually, come to think of it, that's true.

If you go talk to the guy on top of the roof in the eastern section of town, he tells you that the map was locked up in a box that could only be opened by a "pure heart" or something like that.

XD He also tells you the black tutorial chests are the four legendary heroes that sealed the Shadow Queen away in the first place.
