Hello,
Maybe some of you haven't forget my project: Superstar Mario!!

Here's a small preview of the flying cap system... Don't look at the hud or at the background, they are not definitive...

So let's begin:

Sounds strange, seems like a mix of SMB3 and SMW flight controls, plus the supersheep from Worms 2.
From your screenshots it seems that up is tilt anti-clockwise, and clockwise for down. Is that right? That could feel a bit odd, especially if you start facing the other direction. Unless the controls are swapped then. Then more confusion...
IMO turning with the left/right keys would be better.
The screens and sprites are very lovely though.

First, up is clockwise, and down is anticlockwise... I know it can seem a little strange by looking at the screenshots, but I can confirm you that it's absolutly not strange while playing the game... Left and Right wouldn't suit at all to this type of movement, but thanks anyway!

I don't want to be redundant and say "COOL GRAPHICS" so I will say how the green bar is overlapping the M, and that your sig shows what appears to be the original idea for the game instaid of this new invisioning with a smaller size and still good graphics...

Anyways, what would work better is up and down for acceleration and deceleration, and left and right to turn.

It was an explosive sheep that you could make fly by pressing spacebar. It controlled quite similar to the way you describe your flying system.
