Study Habits

What do you do to help you concentrate and study? I'm horrible at studying, my mind wanders off everytime I try to study, but if I don't develop a good way soon, I'm going to be ****ed by the end of the year.

Any ideas?

Put things that would distract you away, don't have the television or radio on, etc.

I have the same problems. I always get off and wander, and I usually end of thinking of something really stupid.

well its been a few years now since i left school, but what I always found helps is background noise, either playing music quietly or having the tv on quietly..

but from reading other comments, this obvoisly depends on the person.

But seriously, when I do study it's in periods of 30 minutes to 1 hour, with some non-destracting music on.

Usually when I study, it's about five minutes before the test. I'm not kidding, I haven't studied ahead of time for a single test this year.

I have the same problems, I have my first part of the exams after 2 weeks. >:O

Study in 30 minute to 1 hour blocks. Take breaks to do whatever and hit the books again. Works for me.

I have the same problems here in regards to study and I friggin' NEED to at least try this year to pass my Leaving cert & get into College ( BTW, my grades don't suck, they are average but I could do better ) which is why I did a study seminar in my school recently ( last week ) to try and help, hopefully, once I have a plan up and running properly ( I'm on mid term right now ) I'll be fine.

i can't study, and not in the sense that i don't like to, it's that i get worse marks when i study then when i don't. strange i know but it's true.

I have a habit of leaving all my work until the last minute. I have 10 sketchy pics to draw by the end of today for one class.

I do the exact same thing. I'm a hardcore procrastinator.

I do parts and parts at different times. And sometimes I listen to music while I do so.

I'm pretty bad at studying, particuarly if it involves lots of memorization and reading textbooks. In those cases, the most studying I seem to get done apart from the initial reading of the material, is reviewing for an hour before the exam. For something like mathematics, I do problems, which isn't so terrible. Procrastination really kind of sucks.

And to make it a bit more relevant, I created a playlist of somewhat ambient music to listen to while I'm studying, which sometimes helps.

I find the best thing to work to for me is talky things, like radio or my extensive prank call playlist. Music generally distracts me, since you always get something you like to listen to, but talking stuff (that ISN"T annoying mind you) is just good background noise for me.

I'm a decent studier (that a word?). I don't put it off to the very last minute, because I would, without a doubt, fail. My parents are always telling me that if I studied a little harder I'd get a 4.0 GPA, since I got close last year... meh.

I didn't study all through high school and ended up as valedictorian x.x;

To 'study' now, especially since EVERYTHING is a distraction to me (Mfgg is actually cutting into my studying right now ;0..) I take a toothbrush, and stick it in my mouth, then put on a very large hat. I then sit down in a chair facing the wall with a small table and a bag of pretzels in it. Then I play some hype rap music in the background very silently in fast motion... then it's on!
