Boston Red Sox sweep World Series to break 86-year-old curse!
MILLIS, MA - Well my fellow MFGGers, the Red Sox are your new daddy. They have just swept the World Series against the Cardinals last night, finishing an 8-game winning streak to take home a trophy that has not seen the Boston area since 1918. The final score was Red Sox 3, Cardinals 0.
The St. Louis team is a very good sport; after the 7th inning stretch they opened the gates to all fans, ticket or no ticket, to let them see history in the making. Speaking of "good sports," the Boston Police were able to keep the crouds properly controlled without the need of riot gear like the last win against the Yankees, which resulted in the death of a college student. Everyone was in good humor, and partied until 1AM.
The Red Sox later partied in the locker rooms with lots of champange. If a champange shower is good for the skin or not, that's another story.

| QUOTE (Captain Durpoff @ Oct 28 2004, 08:35 AM) | | QUOTE (Captain Jeff Silvers @ Oct 28 2004, 12:28 PM) | | Don't be an ass, WC. Some people consider this a big deal. I'm not a baseball fan so it's not exactly the same for me, but I understand the significance. |
But I don't understand the significance, that is why I asked "so?"
I fail to see how it can be exciting to WATCH someone do something that you could easily do yourself. It shows how lazy Americans have become.
And so what if they won? They were worried about a "Curse" that could only be broken if they won the World series.
|
I think it's pretty significant, especially to Red Sox fans I fail to see why someone would want to be so cynical about something like this and then go and attribute people celebrating a team winning to Americans being lazy. 'I play video games therefore I'm a couch potato.' Some people like to be joyful about certain things, and I think that it should be respected. :} Personally I have discontent in my heart for baseball ;x, ~ wait wait wait wait wait, boom, franticism!112, stop, wait wait wait ~ I was actually hoping the curse would catch up to the Red Sox again this year, but that's just because I'm evil >D But of course, Baseball is the age-old american past-time, that I think is past its time >.>..
