So I didn't expect much from this movie. I've been falling behind in movies lately, but mostly catching up on DVDs. (which will be added at the end of the year) The only reason we saw this instead was because Dan in Real Life was sold out. So please forgive me as I review the worst spoof movie ever made.
The story follows David Koechner, a Anchorman vet and pretty funny guy, around his total career or losing. I guess his wife was good at something for some reason and now he's jealous or something? I have no idea since the movie is so horribly set up that several people walked out within five minutes of it starting.
The reason this is the worst spoof film ever made is the fact it's just not funny. You can complain and say Scary Movies are funny, yadda yadda, but I know that there are parts in those movies that ARE funny. Even if just for the first time you see them. But The Comebacks is a different story. There were at least a dozen times where there was an obvious joke made and not a single person laughed in the surprisingly packed theater. The film makers also I guess thought guys in drag was hilarious because the cast does it at least four or five times. In fact the only spoof I thought that was funny was iPod, based on Radio. Mainly because I'm sick and I love a good mental handicap joke here and there.
So avoid this movie. It never looked great, but everything it has to offer is in the trailer.
