My house has three computers: Two in the downstairs offices and one in my brother's room. My dad is going to buy a new computer for mom for their anniversary because she's been gripping about how hers has spyware/adware and how she wants one all to herself. The result of this is:

- I'm getting this computer (mom's).
- Mom is getting a new computer in her office, one of two connected to the Internet.

Because my mom will want this new computer "all to herself," and because I'm upstairs and we can't run the network connection through the ceiling, it looks like I'm going to be without Internet (at least a bit... I assume I could still use my dad's, but not very often because usually somebody else is on it).

My dad brought up possibly running the Ethernet cord through the office window and up to my bedroom (my bedroom is right above the office). Not sure if that'll pan out or not.

Seconded. Use Apple Airport Extreme, same as 802.11g but easy to set up.

Erase the entire contents of the Hard drive from your moms PC.

Then when she is sleeping, swap the cases from the New PC to the Old PC and you have yourself a new PC.

Crafteh. Only two problems:
1) The hardware might not fit in the other case
2) You'll have to install Windows on the other computer, and that takes forever! (trust me, I've done several 98SE installs, they last from 30 minutes to an hour. Average is 47 minutes)
