Typical that on the ONE time I go for an annual forum-checkup away from this place there should be drama worth re-registering to comment about. My my my...
Well first of all I have to say that Joey seems to have had quite a ride which i'm sure will help him appreciate just how hard it was for ME, perhaps he might have a little more respect for me now? Though I doubt it, it's a shame though because searching back he's actually done a fairly good job with some things, despite what a lot of the usual complainers would say, especially where keeping people in line and banning dupes or picking up on "snarky" attitudes that are ban-worthy are concerned. Though he's been a bit out of line sometimes, he's also kept up a lot of the more difficult decisions and kept things together, something that I know is a difficult task.
Though with a position like that and decisions like that which both Joey and Trasher had to make, usually comes people disagreeing, which i've been on both sides of. I have to FIRMLY disagree with de-modding Trasher however. I'm not sure what the reasonings behind this decision were or whether he agreed, but Trasher has done an excellent job and those shoes can't be filled by Jas or Yoshiman i'm afraid to say, no offense to either.
My opinion is this is a step backwards, and it won't fix whatever this is meant to fix, though I can't say that without some bias since i'm not sure on the drama that wen't down. Still, I honestly don't believe the administration NOW has the capacity (more polite way to say balls) to handle what needs to be done around here, and I think just looking at the abuse Joey and Trasher had to put up with is a clear indicator of how bad this place can be, and Joey had it right when he said he was trying to shape the place into a Mario forum instead of super-happy-happy-fun-factory Xtreme.
Every admin here has had to deal with it, and where are they now? Shadowman, RII, Joey and Trasher, Me and TD, Klobber's de-adminned himself a few times but strangely stuck around to go insane.
Um... this has been quite a ramble. Carry on, I hate you all for making me come here and do this, but it's still my baby you know and i'm giving my opinion!

Hey, Kritter's here. 'Sup, buddy?
Anyways, thanks for your opinion. Well-constructed and the such. However, it's really hard to take it all in when I know you haven't been here to post for... what, 2 years? However, I also do understand that you were here and... it's like your soul is connected to this site and forum.
So, I respect your opinion. But the thing is, you say this won't fix itself, but you don't provide an alternative. The least we could try, if we're so low on the quality scale, is to make an attempt to fix it. It may not be a permanent fix, but since when have we ever had a permanent fix on MFGG, ever since the first day it began?

| QUOTE (Retriever II @ Nov 14 2007, 08:50 PM) | | This must be the eDrama of all eDramas if we got Kritter to post. As usual you're entitled to your opinions and it's nice to see people debate civilly. But as Yoshiman said, you haven't been here posting for a couple years and so your information is only approximate. As someone that has been here posting every day for the last two years, I don't believe that our current path was sustainable. But since I failed to come up with a better alternative, I have to put faith into the new administration and hope for the best. |
I did a big back-log of research before coming here. I wouldn't post if my opinion was completely unfounded. I don't have any kind of fix to offer either, but as I said I simply think it's a step backwards, at least where Trasher is concerned. Though if I could say anything it's that I think Joey had it WORSE than I did, "The U" sickens me, it's like the core of immaturity focused in a community simply dedicated to hating another community and its members, and Joey is like their form of the devil.
That's what happens when you stand up for a decision you made I guess... which is what makes me worry now. Jas is a bit of a manic-depressive who I haven't really seen make much of a decision at all here and Yoshiman didn't even have it in him to dump his girlfriend face to face, RII you left your post and Klobber as much as I admire him is simply too nice a guy to have that kind of decision making in him in the long-term, to the best of my knowledge most admins go through the "right, i'm gonna change the forum" phase but it lasts as long as any other drive of inspiration, a week maybe before it all falls apart?
Still i'm posting without a cure, feels a bit of a lost cause really. I guess at most I don't want people to hail this as the turning point in a better forum because it's not gonna be that be all and end all cure, Joey wasn't the cancer here.

well considering if you're basing your opinions of the U you're pretty much basing your opinions off of the common misconception
yes, many U members did not enjoy Joey as mod, personal experience or whatever reason is not relevant. though other than that the U is pretty much like MFGG except without massive amounts of DRAW ME PLZZZZZZZ and other assorted MFGG drama
and without a PPP, though the playpen recently re-opened so i guess that counts as sort of a PPP

Oh i'm not, it's just one area that shows me how far this forum has slumped since I left and how other members decided to react, my opinion isn't based on that place at all. Though I do know the U isn't just for immature people to go whine about Joey and the forum in general, but don't think I haven't been to that place either before you consider my viewpoint as unfounded. Nobody could tell me there wasn't any complaint topics about Joey there and people leaving to head there because "Joey banned me", i've seen them myself. My point was simply Joey had to deal with a lot of immature stuff from the members here, that kind of thing is what sickens me.

you claim that you know plenty about it, and that it isn't a place just for "immature people"
yet you still post this:

please elaborate.

Well I guess it's not fair of me to compare the U upon creation to how it's evolved now, but I saw the majority of the earlier topics and honestly it seemed pretty much "complain about MFGG central", specifically Joey.
Either way though my point is the members were the problem here, not the administration. Look at what people have had to put up with as the leaders here, look at who fell from administration because of it? Even the best of them like Shadowman and RII had enough, Klobber's taken his fair share of leaves, i'm just wondering if people are blaming the right people for the problems. As I said, firing people and hiring others less inclined to be "the bad guy", at least in my honest opinion, isn't going to be the big fix.
Anyway i'm out, my skin's crawling.
