1. Being able to actually avoid banana slipping. That's a feature that's gone from all the modern MK games. I miss that :'(

2. Amazing camera angles. When you use the golden mushroom the camera goes BOOM BOOM BOOM and you gotta admit that's uber-cool, even for a normal racing game 8)

3. Skyscraper battle course. Epic as hell!

4. EVIL BLUE SHELL OF EVIL. Makes the race fair as it hits everyone in front of you as opposed to hitting the first placer only, cause then you might be about to reach the goal in first place and when you get hit you backtrack like 5 places only to find yourself in 6th when you finish the race. It's so god damn frustrating. sad.gif

5. Non-gimmicky courses. All the courses had little to no gimmicks, and save the silver Chain Chomps from Rainbow Road the game DOESN'T need gimmick courses.

6. Non-gimmicky players. No stats, no speed, no handling, no items and except for the different weight categories everybody's basically the same. So it doesn't even matter who you choose, being able to race well actually means you have skill and not a good kart, unlike MKDD/MKDS.

There were stats actually, but they were barely noticeable unless you were really into it.

but MKDS was better because it had MOST of the good stages from all of them, and Block fort.

MKDD is my favourite, the levels were fun, not like the tedious and bland ones on some of the previous games.

Honestly, I think DD might be my favorite. Less Blue Shells than DS. :S

I've to argument some of your statements:

1. Avoiding banana slip is also possible in Mario Kart Super Circuit
2. The spiked blue koopa shell returns in Mario Kart Super Circuit too.
3. Battle Courses in other MK games after MKSC are quite awesome too.
4. I think that the the gimmicks in the courses make the courses fun
5. I don't see the point of having 8 different characters with the same stats in a game.

That said, since I've only played SMK, MK:SC and MKDS, MKDS is my favourite.

I prefer double dash because it actually feels as though you're controlling something, rather than in MK64 where you're just controlling a sprite that could be heavier or lighter than another sprite. Double dash had more pesonality and nicer looking courses (although I suppose you'd expect that). MK64, even though it's still a good game, feels like SMK in 3D, and I think SMK's the worst of the series.

And you're supposed to have "gimmicks" in a Mario Kart game - that's what makes it fun.

I actually sold Double Dash after a few months~ cool2.gif

64 and I are still buds though, and DS I'd like if it weren't for snaking being so easy and lame.

MK64 is probably also my favourite if you count that I hate the snaking in MKDS.

Well if I had to make a second choice it'd be MKDS, I still play up to this very day~
