Mario moves a little to fast, and collision needs to be improved.
And you need a way to control the camera.

Mario runs wayyy too fast, and yes a camera needs to be added. Plus, sometimes you die billions of times in a row. And if you lose all lives the window closes, making it a little frustrating. But it's a GREAT 3D engine. Hope to see some more from you soon!

If you're looking to be confused, make word filters changing all vowels to a certain letter (I suggest to a vowel), all for read-only, and loose. For example, with all vowels turned to "i"...

Uh... I don't think you should be asking that.

But her is what I think of the demo:

The control is a little to jerky, there is no run button, and mario's jump is too quick.

The koopas need to be goombas considering how they work.

They mega mushroom is pretty good, but it needs the real mega musroom song, a growing animation, a shrinking animation, and the mega mushroom item. instead of the super musroom

You should use a jazzed up version of the classic mario song instead of the sonic 3d blast song.

Now... as for the cammera and level design...

YOU ROCK!!!! I have always wanted a threedee mario game like this!!!!!!!!

It is a little jerky and you need more control over it. But the level's Crash bandicoot like layout Is just the way a 3d mario fan game needs to be. It is more original than a 64 clone.

The reason Mario moves too fast is probably because I forgot to add frame limiting, so it always runs the game super-fast. On here he seems pretty good.

Camera control will be added. Also, the only reason I'm not using a Goomba instead of a Koopa is because I don't have an animated Goomba model. Same with the Mega Mushroom. Shrinking and growing would probably be pretty easy to add in though.

I chose the S3D song because I thought it generally fit the level more than the SMB1 Overworld Theme, even a more jazzed up version.

If i could find a goomba would you use it?

Koopas and goombas are different species.

I know they're different species, I've played Mario =P

And yeah, I would, as long as it was game-ready with animations and looked good =P (I suck at modeling/animating/rigging).

I already have a set of game model rips from MKDD/SMS, including enemies, but they're not animated.

Awesome! Only bad thing is the lack of frame limit. My computer runs it faster than a space shuttle too fast.

Good luck with this, seems very basic though.
I don't want to compare it to mine cos that wouldn't be fair, i think the mechanics etc need a lot of work, keep the camera fixed to ground when jumping.

Shadows might be handy too, as it would help to hit the ? block, and make it easier to tell if Mario was about to jump off the edge.

Thanks for all the comments, guys. I've fixed many things, including fixing the respawning (now works 100% perfectly), better collisions, frame limiting, and shadows. Here is a picture of the shadows:

It's very basic, I know, but it keeps up with the Mario style (also because the Devil Shadow System hates me). I still haven't added a camera configuration mode or a walk/run thing, but those will get done soon. As you can tell, I've added an FPS counter too.
