Wait, are the tiles 16x16 or 8x8? And what is the screen size? I don't want to stretch the width of the sprites because that would look terrible.

I do understand 4 color limitation, one being the global transparency.

You sorta have to, because it's done in wide pixels.

Remember guys, each 8x8 tile has 4 colors, one of them is the global background color, so choose an appropriate one.

For say, if a tile uses 4 colors, you MUST use the bg color, if it uses 4 but doesn't use the bg color, then it is disobeying the limitations.

Also when making tiles before making them double width, draw out tiles that go by 4x8, that way it won't look as stretched when you stretch them.

Phage's entry is a perfect example of that, look at his tiles he arranged.

Also if anyone is confused on how to use the colors, here is an example:

(I think it was made by Ptoing from Pixelation)

meh

Obviously not finished though. Ground looks crappy.

And again, enforcing huge restrictions does not work for MFGG sprite competitions.

Breaking the restrictions on the grey block and pipe. Both have either 4 colours that are not black, or 4 colours + black. Also the ! blocks that don't have black as the darkest shade are breaking the limitations too.

Well lets say the sprites are layered on top of each other. Surely the Commodore 64 can handle that.

Well don't count it then. I'm not changing it for the sake of one colour.

Yea. Remember that the whole image is stetched out to wide pixels, not just that sprites and tiles have to be wide and they can move in single pixels.

Also, made a partner so my other mockup doesn't get lonely.

To point out a thing, if anyone mentioned already

tiles= 8x8
blocks= 16x16

many people think that tiles are 16x16

It's not that hard, you just have to be creative with the things this compo offers you.
