| QUOTE (Badassbill @ Nov 20 2007, 06:50 PM) | I hope you don't mind me editing your sprite to explain my C+C. If you do I'll just remove the image from this post.
Even if this isn't in the earthbound style, you can still use it for reference and to build upon your technique. When doing any sprite, you should always take the depth and angle into consideration. Instead of just having a thin straight line, you can make your sprite far more interesting by curving the line to portray some more depth. Adding a small light source to sprite can make it look more complex, rather than it just looking like you made half the sprite, and then flipped it horizontally. Texture is another thing that can be used here to further state the difference between the star its self and its pants. I've made the star shiny and the pants grainy. Adding a bright light on the sprite has also made a nice level of contrast. And a little bit of Anti Aliasing never hurt anybody =P |
I don't mind you editing the sprite at all, plus I never said it would be a good sprite either =P The only reason the sprite didn't have more shading is because I was kind of stuck to a palette. I do plan to fix that however, don't worry about that =P Edit: Move to WIP board please. Oh and Update, I'm taking a break for a while, because than I will see how worse than the sprite already is and make it magically better. Edit 2: And yes I am revamping the shading.
