remember back when I changed my name to Cloud? Then I left for a few months and then I come back to "Cloud is gay" and "I hate Cloud"


and I was "aww"

Then I was like "oh, they mean the character, but still. Time for a namechange"

I'd like to change my name to just Kesha but its like "why would I do that if I only have one name change"

yeah name changes aren't a priority on an admin's dealings with a message board


you should have registered with the name you knew you were going to have for the rest of your time on the forum

I really don't understand how name changes are a problem, if an admin has to o-kay the new name.

Unless they're not handled through PM's any more and I missed the memo. (Holy, that's the second time I've used that line today.)

how about admins just don't change it if it is a prank/joke name

because it creates so much confusion on who is who

imagine if all the members suddenly changed name at once

In any case, what happened to Ctrl+F'ing the namechange log? How's that so hard?

It's too tedious for admins to have to update the namechange log, evidently

I agree with Dex. If you mess up (like I did), you should get a second chance.

When I changed my name to Dr. Light, I had no idea it was permanent, because people had said how Tri used to be Dr. Light. I assumed I could change back later. But I can't. And that sucks.

But I guess I really can't force the staff to change their mind about how it works.

If everybody tried doing it then I'm pretty sure a mod/admin wouldn't allow it.

Too much work. It's better to simply lock the function.

i'd say maybe *maybe* have a contingency name change option in addition to the oneshot, but the contingency name change can only be used a minimum of 1 year after the oneshot is used or something because people do stupid things when they have oneshots just look at me

Last time I changed my name I had to PM DJ about it, so I'm just going by experience here.

Did I mention the fact that I'm not complaining, and that it's also the name I registered with, so it should change the same?

I'm not going to suddenly start writing Ryan on all my papers just because I hate my current name.

It would be awesome if we could do what KS does and register a 'Displayed Name' which displays on all posts, but out official logon name is still our original and is displayed below the badges or something

I think two or three name-changes (no replenishments) would work a charm.

I am on the 1 name change a year boat, I personally saw nothing wrong with name change fads.
