Whenever I start it up it says, "Your copy of Windows is not genuine. You may be a victim of software counterfeit." which makes no sense because it's legal as far as I know.

what i mean is that you might have spyware or something done that is making your computer think it's fake

sort of an identity theft if you will

I have that, cept my Windows is on my Mac. So when I boot up I can become Mac user or Windows user.

Maybe they want to scam you. Be wary of "Sudden Replacement Charges"!

someone could've warez'd windows and ended up with the same activation code as you

... though i don't know how feasible that is or if it would actually happen like that (i was able to install XP on my laptop even though the disc and activation code were used on my dad's laptop... though that was 5 years prior)

It can be all sorts of things that set it off. i have herad some viruses set it off, otherwise it's some obscure thing Microsoft got wrong on the patch front. Had a huge problem with that at school.
