| QUOTE (Elyk @ Nov 1 2009, 08:55 AM) | | well you are tracing it |
that's pretty much accepted when working in 3d... in 2d it's usually considered bad to trace another 2d image, but a 2d image doesn't give you all the 3d detail so you still have to do a significant amount of modeling work. however 'tracing' another 3d model can be considered bad or cheating or whatever (unless it's yours obviously)
especially the closer you're getting to realism; if you see someone model an existing car (for example) it's extremely likely they 'traced' a set of blueprints

of course hell, the only decent model I ever made I had to trace I wasn't criticizing him for it |

A WIP of the third day/chapter of 'A Flygons Journal', the first two chapters should be in the arts board topic. It is around 2/3rds done.
| QUOTE | I awoke to the heat on my back, supplied by the warmth of the sun, yet the cooling mist of a morning that I never had inside the desert. It wasn’t often I woke up like that, but it wasn’t often I woke up on top of someone else that’s either. Martha was still sleeping, I could feel her chest rising up and down, I could hear her breathing quite easily. I felt her warmth in the cool morning, it was relaxing.
“Amazing.” I turned my head, “Simply amazing.” I turned my head again, looking for the source of the voice, it was not mine or Martha’s. “Not only has this young male somehow dominated the much more mature female, but they are both completely out of their ordinary territory!” I heard some rustling in a bush near me, I looked to that bush, “The dominant male has claimed this territory as his own, he asserts his dominance over it, noting anything that has changed.” I stood myself off Martha, feeling the cool air go over my chest.
“The male has become mobile, he is most likely hungry.” At least the voice got something right, “We must keep as quite as possible, the male is quite possibly aggressive and unpredictable.” I walked closer to the bush, I could hear Martha’s moans behind me as she woke from her sleep, as I reached the bush I could see a glint from it, almost like the sun was shining off something, I could hear a nervous whimper as I approached the now shaking glint. I stood in front of the bush and bent over, opening a hole in it, I was greeted by quite possibly the most unusual thing I had seen in my life, a human with dark hair was looking right at me, his face sweating with fear, he held quite possibly the most unusual thing I had seen in my life up to that point. It was black and bulky, giving off a blinking red light, at the end of it was a glass ball, no longer giving off that glint as I covered it.
I poked it gently. “The male...” A voice next to the man holding the device paused as I looked at it, “...is unusually curious.” Again, something they actually hit the spot on, “It may be possible he has never seen humans in his whole life.”
“Oh, cool! The doco crew!” A voice behind me stated, startling me, I look behind myself, greeted by a rather amused Martha. “Hi there!”
“The female... oh!” I widened up the hole a bit more, greeted by another face, a surprised one, “Viewers, this is the same Dragonite that travelled with us nearly 15 years ago as we explored the southern ring of the Orange Islands!”
I looked at Martha, “I’ve been places.” I earned in reply. “So, how’re you going?” She asked ‘the doco crew’, smiling heavily, “Actually, don’t answer that.”
The man in the bushes smiled, I looked around to Martha, “One little gripe with humans, they can’t understand us, I think he got the jist of it though.” “What? How’re we supposed to talk to them than?” I earned a giggle from Martha, “I’ll tell you later.” What she meant by that I’d learn later on.
“You’re such a pain sometimes.”
“Gotta take the good with the bad.”
“I disregard all previous comments about the male being dominant,” Said the man with a chuckle, “Jared, cut. We’re not going to get any real information from these two. They’ll just bicker on for hours, knowing Martha.”
The man holding the device smiled, “Good, lyin’ down in here is killin’ me.” She said as he pressed a button on the device, standing himself as he put the device on the ground, he walked towards me, “Why, he’s as harmless as a Zigzagoon chasin’ its own tail.” He said, reaching a hand out, I flinched as he touched me, “Why, he’s as cute sleepin’ Skitty!” He started scratching at the base of the right wing, I cooed in pleasure.
I looked at Martha for support, she shrugged, “You’re harmless.” She grinned.
“You impulsive little girl, how did you get such a young man for yourself, did you seduce him?” She nodded her head from side to side, “What, he seduced you?” She shrugged her shoulders.
Jared nearly had me on the ground now I was that pleasured; I shivered, nearly falling onto the grass with only my arms keeping me up, “Hmm... something tells me this’ll be a long story... Jared, stop scratching the poor man, he’ll have a heart attack if you keep it up.”
“But he’s so cute when I’m scratchin’ him!” My tail spasming from pleasure as my arms finally buckled.
“He’s your trip back home, not my fault if he can’t be jump started.”
“Okay okay, I give.” He said removing his hand, letting me sigh in relief as I pushed my chest off the ground.
“If it were up to me, I’d have kept doing that.” I earned from Martha.
“If I recall correctly, I did exactly the same thing to you yesterday.”
“I didn’t lose control of my body.” She continued grinning, “You better be ready to fly.”
“What, already? What about breakfast?”
“Trust me, these guys’ll give us food, we just have to give them a lift.”
“A li-” I nearly questioned, then I realised, “Oh.”
“Don’t worry, it’s easy, just let them onto your back and fly, I’ll lead the way.”
“You know where they need to go?”
“You don’t go around knowing people for a year without knowing where they live, in fact, these guys are what gave me the idea to travel around the world.” She said, lowering herself to the ground, exposing her back to the sky, motioning her head at the man without a camera.
“What’s his name anyway?” I asked, pointing to that very man.
“Oh, him? He’s Harry,” She said as Harry mounted her back, his legs dangling just behind Martha’s wings as they were grabbed by her arms, “He records lives and habitats of creatures, honestly, I have no idea why the humans are interested, perhaps they’re in it for the sex...” She said trailing off, standing herself up as Jared mounted my back, his heavy bag helping to push me down along with his body, “Anyway, just follow me, it’s a pretty short trip from here.”
And with that she ran off, leaving a cloud of dust next to me. I felt something kick my sides. “I aint got all day, now let’s get goin’.” I stood myself up quickly, as to say, ‘Okay, okay, I’m going already!’, he seemed to get the message as he tightly held his arms around my body, “I don’t ride much.” As if to answer a question I never asked.
I looked at my path ahead of me and stretched my legs, seeing Martha flying in the distance. I ran slowly at first, mainly to see if Jared was holding on properly, he was, I gradually increased my speed as the green grass was crushed under my feet even quicker, spreading my wings into the cool air as I gained enough speed. When the air was blowing in my face, I jumped as strongly as I could, the weight on the back stinting what otherwise would be an incredibly impressive jump, I quickly started pumping my wings has powerfully as I could in order to gain some air, the cool morning air not helping much as I grunted with effort. “I guessin’ this’s why we never see Flygon out ‘ere.” Stated Jared, I grunted in response as the flight started smoothing out from the additional altitude, I heard a sigh of relief, prompting me to look at him slightly annoyed, “Hey, admit it, it aint the best ride.” I gave him that, but not much more, “Besides, when you smooth out, it's like a car'n cruise control.” I smiled, much better. Granted, I didn't know what a car was but cruise sounded pretty good.
So we kept up at the height, trees melding in with the grass as we flew over, the morning air being as smooth as if it weren't there. It wasn't too hot either, sure, the cooler it is the harder it is to fly, but after living in extreme heat all your life the sea change is quite nice, yes, I said sea change. As I flew towards the horizon the ocean crept towards me, the salty smell of the sea nuzzling itself into my nostrils, I took a big whiff and breathed out. Normally I could only get this smell in a thunderstorm, but now I get it in absolute calmness. It's beautiful. Just like the sexy Dragon that was flying ahead of me. As we flew closer the sound of the beach roared, the waves crashing into the sand, sound also came from the ground. Perhaps it was just a creature grabbing its morning breakfast, or a human driving a roofless vehicle painted in hot red. I pointed at it wanting to know what it was, but Jared didn't notice, so I decided to shake him around a bit on my back to grab his attention.
“Woah, woah, woah, what's that for?”, attention grabbed, I pointed back at the vehicle, Jared actually paying attention now, “Oh, that? That's a car mate, and a pretty damn snazzy one at that.” I looked at him, wanting more information, he gave a laugh, “Curious fella, that's a convertible. He must be trying to impress a chick or something.” I shrugged, how is a car going to impress a chick? I looked at the other cars on the road, there wasn't too many but they all seemed to serve the same purpose, I admitted the convertible looked nicer then most of them but doesn't it serve essentially the same purpose? Getting places? If I wanted to impress someone I'd save her life.
As we came to the beach the sound of the ocean was at it's loudest, the smell overpowering and the sight amazing. We passed alongside a tower in the process, taller then I'd have imagined humans could build something, shouldn't it fall over? I looked through the glass windows, catching glimpses of humans talking to each other in one window and some creatures fighting in another, what an interesting building. As I flew past it I saw Martha slowing down, lowering her altitude, “May wanna follow along with them, we're pretty close to Olivine anyway.” Jared stated, I followed along his advice.
As we lowered down to the ground I could see more towers, noise coming from that same area, the air smelling less clean, I looked into the ocean again, seeing a massive metal structure floating in it, smoke pouring right out of it. It was moving slowly. “Thar she blows.” Jared stated, laughing at his own joke.
Martha touched down onto the ground first, her feet dragging along the sand as she left a trail behind, people stared at the landin;, she had still been flying along quite quickly for landing conditions but she had a tight grip on Harry's legs as well as plenty of runway, I dare say I've landed at much higher speeds. Similarly, I gripped onto Jared's legs tightly, going into an upright position as my feet hit the ground, starting a trail next to Martha's, the warm sand giving way to my feet as I went along, after around 10 seconds I stopped, right next to Martha. People went back to their activities as I stopped, they must have guessed nothing interesting was going to happen.
“Nothing like a morning fly to wake you up.” Martha stated cheerfully out of the blue.
“Does lifting weights come along with the package?” I asked rhetorically.
“Not normally, but they makes a good companion.” She said as Harry jumped off her back, I gave her that as Jared jumped off my back, “Add the fact we get an easy breakfast and everybody is happy.”
“Easy breakfast?” I asked.
“Breakfast.” Harry said flatly, “How'd you all like some breakfast?” He finished off enthusiastically.
“Told you so.” Martha said, grinning.
I looked back at her, and smiled back, “Fine, you win.”
“I'll take that as a yes from both of ya,” Harry interrupted, walking towards a wooden structure on the grass next to the beach, “I'll get my wallet.” He yelled out to us, his shoes tapping against the wooden stairs towards the door.
“Wallet?” I asked her as Harry opened the door, walking through it.
“Something you keep money in.” She answered back, footsteps walking through the structure.
“Money?” I asked again, why do humans have to be so complex.
Martha sighed, “Looks like you're going to have to learn by observation.”
I shrugged, it mustn't be that complex, then again, knowing Martha. Then, I heard the footsteps stop.
“Jared!” Harry yelled from inside the structure, grabbing the attention of the three of us, “Where'd you put the wallet?!”
We looked at Jared, who began shuffling around his clothing as though he was searching for something, after he searched through his pockets he went to his bag, unzipping the rear of it and putting his hand in, he seemed to grab onto something and relaxed.
“It's in 'ere 'Arry! The bag!” He yelled out to the house.
“Good!” Harry replied back, his footsteps becoming louder again as they approached the door.
I looked at Martha, she just rolled her eyes, “Humans.” She muttered as he burst out of the door, the rebound closing the door as he ran out.
“I'm getting too old for this.” Harry muttered as he approached us, “How much do we have?” He asked, referring to Jared.
Jared searched through the wallet, counting through strips of plastic, muttering numbers, “Around...” He said, nearing the end of plastic, “3000.” He finished off.
“That'll get us all breakfast.” He said, “Fish fine with you?” He asked Martha and I, she nodded with me following suit. I'd never had fish in my life, but if Martha liked it, I figured I could. Harry started walking along the beach as he grabbed the bag, the unending rear of the waves still continuing, the three of us followed him.
As we walked around I saw many new sights, while I knew there were many humans, but the beach was just the beginning, as we went more inland onto the concrete surface one thing made itself clear. There is an excessive amount of humans, just three minutes of walking on the concrete pavement had gathered more humans I've seen in that short amount of time then the rest of my life, I looked around, left and right, there was a large mix. Humans inside buildings with all sorts of materials in them, they either seemed to be simple stalls or places people actually walked into. The humans seemed to go to those places and give the plastic notes, getting materials in return. Martha was right, I would learn by observation. The smells were also incredible, I could smell all sorts of things, food, a cars exhaust, food, the products of a shop, food, the sweat of the humans in the heat, food, you name it, it's here.
Another thing caught my attention, some humans seemed to have creatures walking around with them from time to time, many of the creatures I would never have seen in the desert, in fact, after a few minutes it became apparent Martha and I were the only dragons in the area, explaining the occasional glance from curious humans.
After a few more minutes of walking Harry stopped at a stand wreaking of fish and oil, Martha and I stopped next to it, Jared stood next to Harry. The stand greeted them cheerfully, “Why isn't it my favourite customer, whatcha want to get today?”
“I'd like to get some breakfast for four.” Harry replied.
“Four, eh? I only see two.”
Martha immediately put her head into the stands opening, and waved he claw in too, which earned an 'Oh' from the stand. I decided to walk around to the view of the window, no point in denying him a view of the whole family. There was an older man in the stall, with a beard to suit, the smell of the sea had lingered on him, it was very easy to tell he went there often.
“What are you documenting this time, 'Dragons behaviour in seaside city'?” He asked after a few seconds.
“Believe me, if the network would let me, I would.” He replied back with a laugh, “Will 3000 cover the lot of us?”
“Well, you are buying a days stock there for them two mate mate,” He replied, pointing at Martha and I, “It'll be plenty.” He conceded, “Will they mind it being uncooked? I've only got enough oil to cover a days lunch.”
“Well, the Flygon 'as been wild 'is whole life, an' I'm pretty sure the Dragonite would eat nearly anythin' if given the chance.” Jared chimed in, smiling as he described Martha, he whispered something to Martha making her 'Ah' as though she learned something important.
The man in the stall laughed, “Makes you wonder why they call them wild, do you actually own the Dragonite?”
“Nope, she's wild too.” Jared said, continuing to smile as Harry handed over the plastic notes to the owner.
“Either way, no matter how tame they are, I still think they'll need to be escorted to the back room.” He said, walking out of the stand through a door in the side, as he came out to the heated concrete of the outside it was easy to see that he wore a worn out T-Shirt and shorts, sweat gathered up at the arm pits, “Whoo, I don't know how you can stand the heat,” He said as he brang down the curtains over his stalls opening, it had a distinct writing on it, 'CLOSED', “Come inside where it's cool.” He said, motioning his hand for us to follow as he went back inside the passageway.
Harry was first to follow, followed by Jared, I tucked in my wings as I put myself into the passageway, Martha quickly followed, grunting as she struggled through the, for her, very narrow passageway, it was definitely not designed with Martha and I in mind. As we continued trekking through the depths of the passageway I heard a click, and then a creak, followed by a whoosh of cool air and the distinct smell of fresh fish. That must have been the storage room. The owner, Harry and Jared getting in easily, I just simply ducked below the door frame into the cool room, breathing out I could see the fog of my air, I just shrugged the cold off, I didn't like it but at least it kept the fish good.
Martha on the other hand, had other difficulties as I heard from her grunts behind me, I spun around to see her wedged inside the door frame, “I swear, I must have gained a few pounds.” She muttered as she pushed her claws onto the frame, attempting to dislodge herself, “A little help?” I sighed and put out my claw, she grabbed it immediately, I hoped it wasn't a trend, it'd have to be the second time I'd have saved her from being stuck in something, I proceeded to pull her claw, groaning from effort until I fell backwards onto my back, Martha falling onto me in the process, she grinned in her dominant position over me.
“Not now dear, there are people in the room.” I reminded her.
“Oh, screw the people.” She replied back, I gave her an annoyed look, “Oh no no no, not that way.” She replied back in defence.
“Look, I though we came in here to eat.”
“So you want to do it that way, hmm?” She said as she began to turn her body around on top of me.
“Oh for the love of-” I began saying until we were interrupted.
“Look you little love birds,” The owner said, catching our attention, “One, you're both in here to eat fish, and two, I think you'll have more energy for action after eating some food.”
Martha and I blushed as she got off my chest, pushing myself up when the chance presented itself.
The owner looked at a rather amused Harry and Jared, “Try not to let them make too much of a mess, I'll fry the fish and chips for ya now.” He said, grabbing a sack and some fish, “I'll call when I'm done.” He said walking through the door, closing it behind him.
Harry grabbed a box from the shelf, grunting with effort, after a few second of trying he gave up, “Hey, Martha, a little help here?” He finally conceded, she walked over to Harry, and took over taking the box off the shelf, “Thanks for that, I really am getting too old for this.”
“I dunno, bein' old sells on TV y'know.” Jared reassured.
Harry let off a chuckle, “Tell that to me when I am 70.” He said as he took the lid off the plastic container, the fish quickly revealing themselves, surrounded by crushed ice, he took one out and threw it to me, “Enjoy.” He sat himself onto a crate, Jared leaning against the wall.
I caught the dish and looked at it, its dim blue scales blending in well with the fog of my warm breath, I shrugged and threw it into my mouth, chewing the scaly frozen body of the fish. It didn't taste that well, I frowned and looked at Martha, who was smiling.
“You could have at least cooked it before eating it silly.” She said.
I swallowed, “Why didn't you tell me that before?”
“What's life without a little surprise?” She replied with her trademark grin as she walked over to the box, grabbing two fish, “Catch.” She said as she threw the fish in her right hand, I caught it with both, “Just breath some fire onto it, 5 seconds will do it.” She said as she threw the fish in her left hand into the air, catching it in her mouth as she swallowed it whole.
I looked at my fish and hooked it in one hand, holding it by the tail, I brang it up to mouth level and took Martha's advice, I flamed the fish, careful not to hit the buildings wooden walls. A fire in a day of this temperature would no doubt be disaster. After a few seconds I finished cooking it, the scales a nice crisp brown, I threw it into my mouth and chewed, it was slightly dry and the bones were a pain... but all in all? Not too bad, as much as I preferred something with a little more meat on it. “Not bad.” I stated when I swallowed.
“Knew you'd like it.” Martha replied, chucking another fish.
I repeated the process once again, what the fish lacked in size they made up for in numbers, no doubt I'll be filled up soon.
“Hey, what's with the other boxes.” I asked in between frying, noting that there was several shelves with boxes on them.
Martha shrugged, “Lets find out.” She said, tapping a somewhat bored Harry.
“Eh? Oh, right.” He said, getting a utensil out of his pocket, as well as a container that seemed to hold paper upon a binder, or better put, a pen and notebook, perhaps the two most useful tools I'll ever see in my life.
Either way, he gave them to Martha, whom took the pen into her left claw and put the notepad into her right, she seemed to move the pen across the notepads paper, having some difficulty manipulating the pen, after a few seconds she handed the notebook back to Harry, “Its been forever since I've done that.” She remarked.
Harry grinned, “Well, considering it has been 20 years since you've done that, you wrote that pretty well. Anyway, to answer your question, he basically sells the extra boxes of fish to buyers, he doesn't only use them for fish and chips though. He may not be the most fancy man out there, but he actually makes quite a lot of money.” He answered.
“I'm not sure if I should be flattered or insulted.” We heard from the door as it opened, the owner coming in, “If you two are done eating all my fish, I think Harry and his mate would like to get some breakfast.”
Martha took one last fish out of the box and threw it into her mouth, “Well, that's the last one,” She sighed, ”We better scram like the man said.” She stated, going towards the door, with me quickly following behind.
As expected she got stuck in the door frame, this was quickly followed by me pushing her back outside, Harry, Jared and I managed to walk out without too much difficulty. The sudden change back to heat was sudden but soothing, to me anyway, Martha rushed out to the street and spread her wings, wanting to cool herself as much as possible, with the side effect of surprising a few people and a few remarks directed at her which she ignored, while Harry and Jared just tried to fan themselves off, I shrugged, “Weird.” I muttered to myself as I sidestepped past Martha.
“I heard that.” She said to me, I ignored the remark.
Harry and Jared followed, “Man, did it get 'otter or what.” Jared remarked, fanning his face profusely.
“It isn't just you.” Harry said, pointing his thumb at Martha.
“Oh will you please just get off my case. I happen to like the cold.” She said, frustrated.
“Okay, okay.” Harry said, taking a step back, I guess the tone of the voice was enough reason for him.
“Hey, I got two orders here, get them while they're still hot.” The unmistakable voice of the owner came from behind us in the passageway, he walked around to Harry and Jared with a pair of packages wrapped in paper, they wreaked of oil.
“Thanks for that, have a wonderful day John.” Harry said, finally revealing the owners name.
“No, thank YOU Harry, thanks to you, I won't have to work for a few days.” John said with a hearty laugh, “And glad to see they didn't make too much of a mess of themselves in there.” He said, pointing at Martha and I.
“Yeah, they were quite peaceful... it was actually incredibly boring, anyway, thanks for the food, we'll be off.” Harry said, walking off like he promised, the rest of the gang following.
“He seemed nice.” I said to Martha.
“Yeah, but perhaps he should take another look at those disability laws.” She replied back, tucking in her wings as she nearly hit someone in the head with them.
I tried to hide my smile, “Any idea where we are going?” I asked, deciding it was smart to change the direction of the conversation.
“Nope.” She said, proceeding to poke Harry for the paper and pen.
“We need to figure out a better system.” He muttered as he handed them to Martha.
I watched Martha work at the paper with the pen again, she seemed to scribble something down, I put my head up to get a better view and saw what she wrote as she passed it to Harry, 'wer r we goeng'.
Harry immediately read the note, and replied back, “We're going to the TV station, you see, I was on a return trip back home from making another documentary along with Jared when we found you, so no, the film isn't just about you two sorry...” He seemed to think for a second, “But that does give me an idea.”
I looked at Martha, but she just shrugged, she hadn't a clue what his idea was be either.
As we continued walking through the streets Harry and Jared respectively opened their packages, the smell of cooked potato and fish filling up the air, it smelled wonderful.
Jared moved package in our general direction, “Feel free to take some chips, I figure fish must get boring after a while anyway.” I shrugged and took some chips, careful not to take too many and shoved them in my mouth, the wonderful taste of the mixed oil and potato filling my mouth. Much better then the 90% Cactus diet of the desert, these humans have truly found perfection in food.
After a few minutes I learned to ignore the humans taking the occasional look at Martha and I, it simply wasn't worth paying attention to, the humans also gave the occasional look at Harry as though he was someone important, though he also simply just ignored it too.
As we continued walking the bustling smells of the market died down, the noise became quieter and it wasn't so crowded, leaving Martha safe to let her wings free. We continued walking around casually, the bag being passed between various members of the group, when it reached me I figured out why, it was fairly heavy, I just shrugged it off and looped it over my shoulders as Harry and Jared had done, if they had carried it around for what I assumed was several days then a few simple minutes wouldn't kill me.
After a few minutes we stopped, there was a road in front of us, cars travelling noisily through it, what possible reason could we have stopped? I looked at Martha who proceeded to press a button on the pole in front of us, “Traffic lights, gotta love 'em.” She said after a few seconds, I just stood there somewhat confused. The traffic on the road slowed down, growing quieter, until it reached a stop. The pole suddenly started making noises, surprising me, yet the rest of the gang was completely unsurprised as they walked along the road, leaving me to catch up with them.
“Why didn't we just fly over?” I asked Martha as we reached the other end of the road.
“It's too much of a pain for everyone, the wind made would disrupt traffic and it's quicker to just wait for the lights to go red then it is to actually start flying. Believe me, I'd rather fly too.” She replied back in a 'to the fact' manner.
The traffic started going again as we started walking along the other side of the footpath, “Not long now,” Harry said to us, “We're nearly there.” We continued walking for another minute until he took a right turn towards building, the words 'JTV: Western division' written on a sign in front of it. I had no idea what it actually said of course, but it's easy to remember as a picture.
As Harry reached the front of the building a glass door automatically opened, Harry walking through as though nothing happened, Jared quickly following suit, Martha was not too far behind as she ducked to fit through the frame of the door, I took behind her as I stared at the whole setup as I walked through, stopping behind Martha as I reached her.
“I'm taking a guess this is a TV station.” I asked Martha.
“Yep, fancy isn't it.” She replied back, “Also, you may want to move forwards.”
“I'm not falling for that one Ma-” I nearly finished saying until I felt a crushing pain near the end of my tail, causing me to yell out in pain as I jumped forwards.
“The doors automatically close too.” She confirmed.
“I'll automatically close you in a minute.” I muttered under my breath, bringing my tail to the view of my eyes.
“Oh get over it, it isn't broken.” She said to me.
“Wouldn't you do the same thing?” I retorted.
“Not when everyone is staring at us.” She stated as she pointed across the room, showing some surprised humans looking at us arguing. |
1. Do I win the prize for the WIP topic post with most words? (Around 5550) 2. I am not happy with near the end of it, then again, these things need finalizing, I'll clean it up when I finish the draft.
