An IRC Op group would be nice.

Well, the problem is that there's not much that being an IRC op would signify on the boards (like, there's no board for discussing moderating the IRC like there is for the site and forum itself)

Somewhere in the GC there is a Suggestion topic for how to get the IRC active

and We have a rule topic in the GC somewhere but because we have no way of maintaining it without having one person loom over the topic.. we really can't do much.

Let's do this. Not just with "COME TO THE IRC" topics... We'll have to brainstorm, but I really want to make the IRC a real part of the MFGG community again.

maybe some sort of incentive to get people to go to the IRC

like (this is probably a bad idea but i will throw it out there) taking one month off the required time for the happy heart badge if a person is an active member of the IRC chat

that could help to draw people on there

I thought that periodic events with badge awards would be pretty good incentive. Be it a trivia night or some other kind of IRC contest.

That's a good incentive too.




A combination of a bunch of incentives would probably be best.

I loved Trivia Night during the NFGC

I could do the Guess the composer/game/band thing..

or if i could rig up a radio i could do Guess the song.

And If someone could make a [?] block badge, that'd be perfect for trivia.

I could possibly write a bot that integrates with the forums in some way. perhaps it could spit out a text file on my server containing the current topic of the IRC chat or something, which the taloncrossing server would then check every 30 seconds or so and update a local mirror

idk i am throwing out ideas, the bot could very well just run on the taloncrossing server
i am concerned about the security implications of using a php irc bot though

ZFGC had a chat snooper, which showed who was in the chat.

IRC is strictly forbidden in any form on the server.

What's the host?

or is that classified information?
