The Mario RPG/Brawl connection

Maybe I'm reaching here, because I really want Geno to be in Brawl, but listen to me for a sec;

1. Mario RPG will supposedly be released on Virtual Console. (Link)

2. Sakurai's comment on the newest assist trophy (Saki Amamiya) reveals that he is paying attention to what the fans want;

3. A little rumor that Square suddenly wants to do a sequel to Mario RPG ('Nother Link)

4. Geno ranked very high on the most wanted list, surrounded by the likes of Diddy, Dedede, Sonic, Wario, and Lucas. (Link-a Numba 3)

So to me, this seems to indicate that Square, for some reason, has interest in the series again. If Sakurai knows what we want, and Square is cooperative we may be in for a big treat.
Do you guys think there's any chance of it happening?

I'm in two minds about this.

1.) Geno is a terrible, terrible character design borne of the worst of 90s CG.
2.) His appearence would mark him as the last third-party character, severely pissing off the "LOEL MEGAM AN 4BRAWL!!! !!" crowd.

There was something I read that said that because he's a Mario character, Geno would be considered first-party.

I'd like to see him in.

His "Geno Whirl" could be one of those risky move, it either does next to nothing or is a 1 hit KO (as a reference to its ability in game).

I dont think that matters. It's company ownership rights and what not. Although Nintendo was able to slip him in M&L:SS so who knows.

But then how did he get in?

Square wasn't involved the the M&L series' development, were they?

I think that Ton is saying that Geno wouldn't take up a third-party slot because of his "Mario-ness." And personally, I sure hope so...

Presumably they asked very nicely.

Either way, if a Square/Enix character gets into Brawl, it probably won't be Geno, but a FF or DQ monster or something.

I seriously dont think how "Marioy" a character is decides what party they are. It's company ownership. (I believe)

Although, Square knows how big Smash is, and seing all these other big name companies, along with the fans want for Geno, might get them moving.

Hopefully something like a Black Mage, not Sephiroth or something..

Back on topic; if Geno appears as a playable character I'm going to Nintendo/HAL.

An assist trophy would be fine, I'd just rather have a GOOD character take up the last third-party slot.

No offense SMRPG fans, but really.

I doubt Geno will be confirmed, unless square enix decided to let them use the character, which i doubt..

Don't really care for anymore third parties, but if there is one I hope its Geno or Klonoa. Megaman is cool, too.

The thing is, Geno sucks and Super Mario RPG has yet to reach areas outside of America. Sin & Punishment has, however.

But there's enough Mario characters, no need to add more.

I thought Sakurai said if Geno is in, although he is third party, he would get permission, but not take up a third party slot and would put him in as a MArio character.

He HAS only made an apperance in Mrio games.

As much as I'd love Geno to be a playable character, even if he does get in, he would probably be an Assist Trophy.
