QUOTE (EDGE @ Nov 24 2007, 08:49 PM)
Thanks for Pointing out what I been trying to say...wait I did say this.
I guess they just want to feel special and have a special debate group...I'm against this debate section idea, but I do support the idea of a punishment for these who spam and flame and never get banned for it.

It's similar to what Quicky or someone else stated earlier.

The idea itself is not a bad idea. But debates on this forum usually don't end well. What's the point of moving debates to a seperate forum where they all won't end well?

And even with a new set of rules in place, give everyone two weeks and most if not all of them will be broken somehow.

Yet, A Debate forum wouldn't be a PPP.

What does debating and the PPP have to do with eachother?

The members will act in the debate section as if it was the PPP...right?

@Nicholas Ainsworth:Yup, I tried telling him the same thing quickly and the others did.
Topics will end up bad and will get locked, so what we would be doing is a section for topics that will get locked...also if we make members respect the rules many will get banned and it's bad because the community will fall apart...not that much, what I mean is that with the PPP out it was good enough, now enforcing harder rules and more sections for specific members will cost us some members.

Well if they break the rules, they get banned.

And I'm sure more and more people do not want to be banned since if they get banned, they will have to wait another three months to get into the CCC. And i'm sure alort of people here does want to go into the CCC.

You put a bunch of preteens in a forum to act stupid, one's head will explode.

You put that same bunch of preteens in a forum to have a rational discussion on global economy and you'll eventually get it down to ****slinging and someone's feelings being hurt because Superjohnnymario123 told LuigiFart that the Euro >>>>>>>>> USD

LuigiFart and Superjohnnymario123 derail the entire topic with their flamewar and it gets locked. Now multiply this 500 or so times for each of the debate topics to be had in that forum.

How can you be so sure this will happen, seriously.

I can't say for sure this will happen. I'm only going on history.

Again, I don't think the idea itself is bad, you just have to realize you're not exactly dealing with the brightest bunch of crayons in the box when talking about MFGG and debates.

...because it happened a lot of times before, it happened in the topic you were talking about and judging by all the times it happened I'm pretty sure it will keep happening...

Okay guys, I will write a guide for internet debating in general, if a debate forum would be made these are the guidelines that should be followed.

QUOTE ( ME)

General Guidelines to Internet Debating

What is a debate in general?

A debate is a structured argument.  Two sides speak alternately for and against a particular point asserted as part of an argument usually based on a topical issue.

But to keep things out of hand, here are some guidelines you should follow.

1. No baseless points are allowed in a debate.  You must support your points with facts, and if it isn't a well commonly known fact you must quote your sources or else your points will be deemed as invalid.

2. No flaming is allowed when debating ( Meaning insulting people because they disagree with you), people have different opinions of things, if you wish to participate in the debate, you must respect the fact that some people don't agree with you.

3. Going out of topic in a debate without any reason isn't permitted, you can't talk about a topic that has no relationship with was is being discussed in the debate.

4. If you are going to participate in a debate when a subject is discussed it is recommended that you be knowledgeable in that subject before participating so people know what you are talking about.

Failure to comply with the guidelines set will result in account suspension (except for the 1st and 4th lines which if you fail to comply with them your points are invalid.)

That would be the guidelines to keeping the debate forum with minimum bans as possible.

Also consider the fact everyone that banning has stopped alot recently because of people wanting to go to the CCC and getting banned will either remove them from the CCC or have to wait another three months to get another chance for the CCC.
