Music comps

I know its been talked about before, but has it been tried?

I realize that not many members actualy make music, but maybe a compotition could get others to start. All I think is that we should have a "trial" comp. No badges, no prizes, just a small comp to see if it catches on. After all, isn't music an important part of a fangame?

I'm a composer (not a real pro, but I'm pretty good at it).
I do my own custom music, though.
I'll enter the competition, unless we're limited to Mario music.

I think the idea did arrise, but considering not too many people make music on MFGG, the idea was shot down in an instant.

Well thats what I mean. Instead of just saying no, I think they should have 1 comp, see how it goes, and decide from there.

If it gets a good amount of entries, do another. If it gets little or none, end it.

There may not be many, but enough for a comp I say.

Does the file type matter (.mp3, .mid)?

All the comp would need would be a theme. (examples: Underground, Bowsers castle, or more specific like- SMB3 iceworld map)

And then post a link to the song (if they have it) on VGmusic.

Not enough Composers on MFGG

I suck at making specific music...

I can make F-zero X-esque type music.
Using my guitar.

But how can you be sure? What if a new member makes music but hasn't said anything, or even an old member who never brought it up?

I would so enter one. Most of what I do is arranging, but I've made a few originals.

Wouldn't it also make sense to allow them to compose their own music that would fit the theme? Rather than just have them just cover some old Nintendo song.

I suck at composing new songs, but I can arrange some decent MIDIs of old ones.

I think I brought this up once in the PPP. A certain song, or a them could work. Like, say, It's a bowser castle theme, people could spice up old songs, or even create their own to fit the theme. Anyway, yeah I support this idea
