Hey all, what's happening?

Just wondering if anyone know if I'm able to create "demo portions" in my fangame projects just like how the actual official games do it. By this, I mean that if the person hasn't pressed a key to access the main menu or start the game, this would briefly show gameplay of some of the levels the player will encounter as he or she begins the game itself.

I would assume this would be quite a task just to create demo sections of the title phase, but I'm just making sure of this possibility. Thanks, all!

Just remake your title screen for the demo, and only put the levels you want in.

just set it to load a video of the gameplay after a certain amount of time

I assume you could use paths, which would have you character move automatedly, and you could edit a copy of the char object so that it would animate the sprites as needed (this depends how good your programming is in the first place, you may have no work to do!)

well if it supports arrays, then what you could do is have a 1D array that contains 1 value per cell like: 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 3, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2

1 would be for a right arrow press (technically holding it, actually, since you'd want an "Always" behavior for it), 2 is left arrow, and 3 is a PRESS of the jump button

problem is, your engine would have to be designed to take input from an array as well as input from the player

... and if you have the skill, you could replace the above string of numbers with a much smaller-size "recording" like: 1 20, 3, 1 5, 3, 2 10

the first number of a pair is the button number (obviously) and the second number is the number of frames the key is held down for (Always, again); 3 is obviously a single-frame occurrence and doesn't need another number... but i don't think TGF1 has string parser either
