Could someone explain me how it works? I'm planning to buy one, but i'm not sure if it'll save/connect with other DS/connect wifi. Plus, what's the difference between the normal R4 and the R4DS?

it also allows you to run homebrew, opening up such possibilities as using your DS as a media player, drawing medium, and plenty of other things (including emulators for systems such as NES, SNES, Genesis, GB/C, etc...)
not to mention homebrewn games

the R4 (which is the R4DS) reportedly works fine with single card multiplayer local wireless on games hosted on the system with the R4 with the latest R4 firmware, though I haven't tried this myself

other than that saving data and connecting to WiFi is not a problem at all

I've played a wifi match with a person who had used a jump ultimate stars rom image with modified text strings, turning the game atleast 70% english iirc.

I used an original cart btw.

Meh, I found out that there is a patch that can let you play roms on a Datel Games n Music thing.

Apparently the patch also works on the R4.

Those are just SD cards which have nothing to do with the R4 itself other than just hold the data for things you have downloaded or saved.
