Can anyone explain to me in layman's terms how action potential in a nerve cell works, and how a signal is kept up across synaptic clefts? Also, are dendrites only used for continuing a signal in a sensory neuron? Actually, and explanation of synaptic transmission would be nice too, my textbook just ain't working for me!
