A couple of days ago I asked you all to send me a list of your top 5 Mario videogames in this topic. I recieved 21 lists and ranked them on a point system allowing 5 points for a #1 choice, 4 points for a #4 choice, and all the way down to your #5 choice for 1 point. I added all the points, and the greatest Mario games are ready to be revealed.

Tiebreakers: If two games had equal pointage, the game that appeared on the most lists ranked higher. If the songs also appeared on the same ammount of lists, I went with whatever scored highest on an individual list. For example, a game that was someone's #3, beats another person's #6.

I will reveal each game every 10 minutes or so. And go ahead and post your top 5 lists that were sent to me if you want.

15. Super Smash Bros. Melee - 5 Points
(1 of 21 lists. Highest Ranking - #1 Mewizkuit)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Smash_Bros._Melee

"Super Smash Bros. Melee, released in Japan as Dairantō Smash Brothers DXis a popular crossover action game released for the Nintendo GameCube shortly after its launch in 2001 (2002 in the PAL region). It is the sequel to the 1999 Nintendo 64 fighting game Super Smash Bros., and will be followed by the 2008 Wii game Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The game was developed by Hal Laboratory, with Masahiro Sakurai as head of production, and was a game launched to coincide with the release of the GameCube.

The game is centered on several dueling characters from Nintendo's videogaming franchises such as Mario and Zelda. The stages in the game and the multiple different modes of play make references to—or take their designs from—popular games released by Nintendo. The history relating to playable characters, minor characters and objects are documented via the "trophy" system. For each trophy, the subject is depicted with an accompanying brief description of which game the subject appeared in and their relevance. The inclusion of characters in the game had further effects on other games outside the franchise; for example, Roy and Marth prompted the release of the first Fire Emblem game outside of Japan.

Melee's gameplay system offers an unorthodox approach to the "fighter" genre as each character doesn't have an individual health bar, by which the player will die if it reaches zero. Instead, the game is based upon a "percentage system" by which increased hits on a player raises their percentage; the higher the percentage, the more likely it is for the character to be knocked off the stage. It builds on the first game's broad appeal and improved multiplayer and single player modes, adding new features. The game has been the subject of several multiplayer gaming tournaments that offer substantial cash rewards.

Super Smash Bros. Melee is currently the best-selling game for the Gamecube."

13. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - 5 Points
(2 of 21 lists. Highest Ranking - #3 Mewizkuit)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario_&_Luigi:_Superstar_Saga

"Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga is a role-playing video game developed by AlphaDream and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance in 2003. Superstar Saga is the third Mario role-playing game, following Super Mario RPG for the SNES, and Paper Mario for the N64. It was produced by Shigeru Miyamoto and Tetsuo Mizuno, directed by Yoshihiko Maekawa, scored by Yoko Shimomura and production supervised by Takashi Tezuka.

The game is initially set in Mushroom Kingdom, but changes to Beanbean Kingdom for the majority of the game as Mario and Luigi combat Cackletta (a central antagonist introduced in that game). The quest begins when Cackletta, with the aid of her assistant Fawful, steals Princess Peach's voice after adopting the guise of an ambassador from Beanbean Kingdom. The game centres on a battle system different to that of traditional Role playing games (the turn-based battles require timed actions from the player and more activity when attacking and defending). In general, the game is whimsical in tone, with various in-game jokes and comical references to the heritage of the Mario series.

The game was generally well received by critics; IGN named it the 12th best Game Boy Advance game of all time in their feature reflecting on the Game Boy Advance's long lifespan. The game attained an average score of 91% on Gamerankings."

12. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars - 7 Points
(6 of 21 lists. Highest Ranking - #4 tonberry2k)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Mario_R...the_Seven_Stars

"Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, released as simply Super Mario RPG in Japan, is a hybrid adventure/console role-playing game, developed and published by Square (now Square Enix) and Nintendo. Nintendo first released the game on March 9, 1996 in Japan and on May 13, 1996 in North America. Neither Nintendo nor Squaresoft ever released a PAL version.

Super Mario RPG is the final Mario game for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System video game console, as well as being one of the last games Square produced for Nintendo hardware until Chocobo Land: A Game of Dice in 2002. Square mainly developed the game, with direct guidance from producer Shigeru Miyamoto. IGN confirmed that Nintendo will re-release Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars on Wii's Virtual Console in North America in 2007."

10. Mario Kart DS - 11 Points
(4 or 21 lists. Highest Ranking - #2 NICKtendo DS)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario_Kart_DS

"Mario Kart DS, abbreviated to MKDS or MK:DS, is a racing game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo DS. It is the fifth installment in the series and the first to use Nintendo's free online service, Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The game was released in the United States, Canada, Australia, and Europe in November 2005, and in Japan in December 2005, and in South Korea in which it is the very first Wi-Fi Connection game launched in April 2007. It was well received critically, scoring an average of 91% from Metacritic. Many reviewers have called it the best Mario Kart game in the series.

Like other games in the Mario Kart series, Mario Kart DS involves various characters from various Mario games racing each other in go-karts on tracks themed from locations in the Mario series. Less realistic physics, and the use of various weapons and or items to achieve victory differentiates kart racing games like MKDS from more realistic racing games."

Awww man. I knew I was gonna screw this up. Alright so I have a game as #10 that doesn't have enough points to be on the list.

There will be a new game listed as #15 on the first post. Super Mario Land 2 will now be #14, Mario and Lugi: Superstar Saga will now be #13 and so on. Sorry about that.
