I'm currently working on a side-scrolling, 2.5 D racing game.
No demo, but I have screenshots.

Before I give further details on the upcoming game, here's the prequel I finished months ago, Sonic R GM.
It's quite easy when you get the hang of it.

Details on Sonic R GM.

I can promise that Sonic R DX has a better story than Sonic R GM.
You'll also meet some of my custom characters. Their background aren't given in both games, except Dusk's a bit in Sonic R DX.

Your opponent can be either Dusk (Normal) or Eggman (Hard). I raced Dusk in both Zones, but he's out of view.

In the case of Amy and Cream, I assume your using the Sonic Advance series sprite sets for them (as well as for other characters, of course)?

I have one thing to say -- don't give up on this project! :P

Well, I do have a Mario related easter egg in Sonic R DX and the lime green Sonic is Sonic for player 2. Multiplayer has no character-select. I chose green to let him represent Scourge from the Sonic comics.

Also, it's a little tile-ish, because it makes it easier to calculate positions.

I didn't tell you yet, but most characters have voices (from Sonic Battle) in Sonic R DX. Custom characters and characters that didn't appear in Sonic Battle have edited versions of the Sonic Battle voices (but those are secret, so I'm not giving examples tongue.gif ).

And how can I go back to SFGHQ if I never heard of that place until now?
I feel... *sniff* ...hurt... *sniff* sad.gif

Anyway, if I feel like it, I'll make that Sonic styled Yoshi that I drew multiple times.

Just in case, I have to note that the demo is the prequel to Sonic R DX. I've put that up to give you a global idea of the upcoming game.

Oh, so the sprites are from Sonic Battle -- even better! ^_^

Also, any decisions on music selections for this game? I hope it's as awesome as the "Sonic R" set.

Update: Demo! Yay!
I am in a generous mood, so I've put up the demo. It's in production for quite a while, so don't be surprised to see lots of content.
Press F1 for help, instructions, story and credits.
The file is attached to the first post.

As for music, each stage has their own music from the original game. The tunes are all midi, though, but I've searched through VGMusic for the finest.
I must also note that I use the Lite version of Game Maker 7.

In case you are wondering who or what 'Maciated' is (author of the game), it's my game design group (so far 2 members, including me and my best friend Cyber Maroon). My logo is a mace with a hungry look in his eyes laugh.gif

Anyways, enjoy the demo.

GM7? I'm guessing the Lite version is compatible with XP.

Anyway, are there going to be on-foot AIs? Lynx just beats you hard on some levels and is just a cocky SOB in some. (The first space level, it's the first one I beat.)

Did I mention you can switch from Normal to Hard, from Hard to Practice and from Practice back to Normal? There's an icon somewhere in the top left saying Normal. Once you click it, you'll switch to Hard etc. The Dialogue button nect to ut turns dialogues on or off, though there are no dialogues at the beginning.

As for on-foot AIs, I have to figure out that, it's really hard. If I make them, though, they will be limited to appear only in a few (or maybe just one) stages.

I must also tell you that the CPU opponent isn't just flying at a constant speed, just like in Sonic R GM. When you're behind, the CPU will slow down a bit and will go back to full speed when you're in the lead.

My advice to complete the stages is to practice well on them and select a character best fit for them (instead of picking just the fastest one).

Also, keep your eyes open for paths that lead outside of the view.

Now that is something I can fix.
In matter of fact, I've already did all the starter characters and two secrets.
Most characters won't have animated idle poses.
Also changed Tails' running animation, because the running animation came from Sonic Advance 1, while the other animations were from Sonic Battle, so now he has the running animation from Sonic Battle. His Character Select image will stay the same, though.

This game is still in production and as soon as I finish it, I might start on part 3 of the Terra Crashers trilogy, so no sequel, atleast for a great while.

Ah, that explains it all - as for the demo, awesome job so far, man! I still need practice to get used to the courses overall. o_O

I had a fangame idea just like this (but Mario series related, of course)! :P But I have yet to do an engine once I get to that said project. :P
