no story or name as of yet, but I'm hoping to make this game Simpsons Hit and Run esc. anyways I'm hoping to have atleast 10 MFGGers playable but some characters that still appear (and race) in the game too, anyways demo: http://www.sendspace.com/file/un26ox the controls are as follows:

up: gas
Down: brake/reverse
left and right: steer
control: handbrake (used for drifting)

if you want to be playable I need a couple things from you:

a. your characters spritesheet

b. top, side, front and back views of your car plus a tire sprite, or a 3D model

c. vehicle description (short summery and weight class)

e. statistics (submit in example format)

This is pretty cool. I'd like to be a character, as my character is a car.
I'll just need to get all the things, then I'll edit my post.
And, a few things...
1.Are all the cars going to be boxes?
2.How big do the "views" have to be?

2. as big or as small as you want them to be.

if you want an open kart I have no problem with it, you'll just have to include an extra set of sprites for your character sitting in the kart with the four views (like SMK).

you can put in curves but the corners might look a little funny, I'll crop the edges so it's hardly noticable though.

Just wondering, would you be able to just have the side poses and a strip that kind of follows along the edges of the sides? It would make it a lot more accurate.

You know, I would hope so, It'd really being more imagination into this and allow the game to possibly run properly (15 FPS) on my computer =P

like your avatar? I'm gonna say no, since the camera follows the behind car it'd look a little weird.

I'm no model expert, I know how to put them in Gamemaker and rotate them and thats just about it, I don't have a clue if I were to set a limit what would be reasonable, I f at all possible however make the model a .d3d (Gamemaker model format) file, if you can't however I can convert it into one from just about any format so I guess it doesn't matter

Nice engine so far! Although it is pretty easy to get stuck..

there's none specifically for gamemaker, but anim8tor has a .d3d export plugin for it.

Here's an example of what I mean. The white parts are the sides, and the gray bit it the strip that would follow along the edges. You'd just need to move the gray bit down so it connects.

what I was planning to do was splice your images into many different sprites and draw them at different angles (think SSB64 fighting polygon team) but that would work if you could model the connection.
