| QUOTE | | I really do not believe for a second that Final Destination was intended as the ultimate competitive battlefield so much as it was the easiest way to have you fight two floating hands at once. |
It's not even the most commonly played stage.
| QUOTE | | The items weren't put into the game to be removed, and the emergent gameplay that has evolved from this now aging title is as obscene to me as a chat bind in an FPS. |
There's an item switch. You can do whatever you want with the game. How are you sultan of determining how a game should be played?
| QUOTE | | Smash Bros Melee has some characters that are better than others, period. It has some characters that if played by people of the proverbial equal skill level against others would be SCREWED. |
And it has characters that people of equal skill level will go even. Just because competitive play doesn't allow Pichu to win doesn't make it absurd. There's obviously enough variety that makes a lot of people play the game regardless of there being bad characters.
| QUOTE | | Given that different characters attacks take different times and placements to be used effectively, |
Which sums up to every character in the game not being DK. --- Given that the 3 races in starcraft take different build orders and amounts of unit control to win...
| QUOTE | | we can surmise that being able to move in a state where you cannot take damage to a near sprint across the ground where you can perform any of your moves is quite a bit game breaking. |
That only exists if you have a starman and a bunny hood.
But I guess if you disagree with it because the party aspect is taken out and the fact that there are some characters that can't compete against the better ones, then cool. It's just annoying when you make things up to make it sound worse than it is, or slander an entire community of people that are obviously having fun with what they're doing.

I meant- Balance = ( Skill > Character selection ) Too much programming where the = sign is assumed to make the left LHS and right RHS of the equation... didn't expect the confusion, sorry =].
In turn, it's what you said, but me being unclear made what I typed make no sense =x. And any logic I could've been following with your assumtion would've been crazy XD.
Anyways, what I'm getting at in the end is the fact that with the options it opens up, it makes the game more balanced just due to the fact that it creates more options and counters for even less blessed characters to take advantage of. More options and counters take the edge off of race/character advantages in any game, and pushes it more towards the ability of the player to manipulate a situation. It's good fun to know that the game is constantly able to expand by players countering new tactics, keeping it fresh even if competitive play to an untrained eye looks like robot work.
I'm pretty sure Pikachu in SSBM wouldn't be near as effective at high level play as I can play him right now if that move wasn't around to give him counters to certain tactics the better characters can employ. I'm not saying it makes or breaks anyones game in general, but it certainly doesn't make it less fun.
At the same time, high level play isn't important to a large number of people. I mean, smash is one of the best party games ever made. There's been rare times where I'd had more fun playing any other game with a group of friends than Smash Bros. Of course having a bunch of things that take a lot of concentration to learn isn't going to be fun for people playing smack'em up brawls, it's crazy. But in my opinion its the ability of a game to appeal to all crowds and continously expand in complexity (Beyond a random movement trick) even after people play it competitively for years is what takes a great game to a grand level.
Dunno why I said all that though, just what I'm getting at.. is.. don't hate XD.
