But I guess if you disagree with it because the party aspect is taken out and the fact that there are some characters that can't compete against the better ones, then cool. It's just annoying when you make things up to make it sound worse than it is, or slander an entire community of people that are obviously having fun with what they're doing.

WRONG. All dodging in the game is exactly that, a DODGE. When you are in a DODGE state you do not take damage that is the very POINT.

Balance does not equal skill. Balance is dependent on Character Selection. If two players who have been playing Smash for the same time and have the exact same gaming experience but one chooses the more "powerful" character and wins, we're is the balance in that?

And two competitive level player's are playing same situation as before, except that one uses the less "powerful" character, and this time the less "powerful" character won, that in turns show's us that skill is what ultimately decides the winner in the battle, not weather or not the game is balanced.

And you should more clearly define what you mean by

Balance = Skill > Character Selection.

I take this as Balance is SKILL and both those combined are more important than character selection.

Peach's wavedash was the speed of a cow, but otherwise I get it. The better reason would be that it you could basically do anything out of a wavedash compared to just running. (Wavedash into fsmash, grab, etc)

Anyway no since air dodging doesn't give that momentum boost anymore that was needed to slide across the ground.

Too much programming where the = sign is assumed to make the left LHS and right RHS of the equation... didn't expect the confusion, sorry =].

In turn, it's what you said, but me being unclear made what I typed make no sense =x. And any logic I could've been following with your assumtion would've been crazy XD.

Anyways, what I'm getting at in the end is the fact that with the options it opens up, it makes the game more balanced just due to the fact that it creates more options and counters for even less blessed characters to take advantage of. More options and counters take the edge off of race/character advantages in any game, and pushes it more towards the ability of the player to manipulate a situation. It's good fun to know that the game is constantly able to expand by players countering new tactics, keeping it fresh even if competitive play to an untrained eye looks like robot work.

I'm pretty sure Pikachu in SSBM wouldn't be near as effective at high level play as I can play him right now if that move wasn't around to give him counters to certain tactics the better characters can employ. I'm not saying it makes or breaks anyones game in general, but it certainly doesn't make it less fun.

At the same time, high level play isn't important to a large number of people. I mean, smash is one of the best party games ever made. There's been rare times where I'd had more fun playing any other game with a group of friends than Smash Bros. Of course having a bunch of things that take a lot of concentration to learn isn't going to be fun for people playing smack'em up brawls, it's crazy. But in my opinion its the ability of a game to appeal to all crowds and continously expand in complexity (Beyond a random movement trick) even after people play it competitively for years is what takes a great game to a grand level.

Dunno why I said all that though, just what I'm getting at.. is.. don't hate XD.

Dude, wavedashing is as bad as, for example: strafe/rocket/jumping and plasma climbing in Quake 3.

Infact wouldn't it be great if they could remove that ****ing bug from ioquake?
