I'm currently at work on a forthcoming Super Mario RPG.

I can't release any details at this point, because, frankly, there's none to release. That will all change, naturally, once the creation process has progressed beyond spriting.

The first thing I read beyond the rules on this board was things you folks were tired of seeing in Mario fan game platformers. The next thing I read was what you folks enjoyed about RPGs in general.

Well, because this currently untitled Mario RPG is made by a fan for the fans it only makes sense to go directly to the fans in asking this most important question:

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE IN A MARIO RPG?

I say in terms of enemies, playable characters, secrets, bosses, attacks, places, items, cameos, pieces of stories and any ideas in general, perhaps even things I should avoid in adding to the game... Let your imagination run free!

Not every idea can make it in to the game, but none will go unheard. I reiterate, this is game made by a fan for fans. I'm going to do my very best to insure a fun and engaging experience for all those here at MFGG.

This was just after about 30 seconds of thinking, you can find star shards, and when you find 4 or 5 of them you can go to this special Toad house and put it together for a level up.

Battles that don't make you feel like you're playing a standard rpg, such as the SPM battle system or even something from the "Tales" series, just no turn based battles please.

actual replay value. gimme a reason to play the again game after i beat it. a good way to do this is to have non-linear story paths and different endings.

Some serious enemies to fight, Spoilers:
like in Super Mario RPG with kick-pawnage crystal attacks.


I would try not to do the standard pathetic enemies like in the other Mario games.

Bring in as many obscure bosses from classic Mario games as you can find. People like that kind of stuff.

Maybe...
-clothes that looks different when you change them(Example:You change your normal jeans to Koopa Jeans, the jeans turns red and looks a bit like a koopa shell, or you get different boots like in Paper mario 2, then the shoe color is changing.)
-one or more partners who could be designed by the player
-2,5d environment(like spm)

I'd suggest you add in stuff like full equip system (headwear, necklace, armbands, shoes, pants, shirt, gloves, that kinda stuff) and a WORKING Super Paper Mario-styled battle system. Oh, and maybe a cameo by Kirby (playable or at least a boss or enemy of sorts, please?). Oh, and same applies to the Ice Climbers. I'd like to see them playable or at least a boss (Nana and Popo tagteam action WOOOOOOOO). They would even have their own boss levels (Kirbs: Green Greens | Ice Climbahs: Ice Mountain). And that's my two cents. Hope you read this in whole.

Okay. Just so you know, I am being serious about this.

I think you should have a hyper mode ability like in megaman command mission.

Like mario's hypermodes could be Fire Mario, Ice Mario. you know, Add a sort of powerup sytem where you use an item that changes mario's attacks and lasts a few turns, or dissipears when you take a certain amount of damage.

Fire Mario's Hammer could changes to a fireball attack like in smrpg.

It also needs Action commands. So it is more Marioy.

Multiplayer! Like 2 people can adventure at the same time(they have to be a certain range from each other, or have split screens).
Or, people can battle eachother.
