I'm trying to record sounds from a soundboard using audacity but I can't find the sound control on my laptop to get it to do so. least I think I need to get into sound control. All I can find is the master volume. I'm using Windows Vista by the way.

The reason I think I need to get into sound control is because audacity won't pick up anything. Well only when my mic is near it. I want it to be able to record from the computer itself like I do on my PC.

Fins the Windows Sound Recorder, and go into Edit -> Audio Properties

You should see a Souns Recrding part in the pop-up box.
