Maybe you remember the old topic, or maybe you don't. But it doesn't matter now  I found this lying around in my lost documents, so I said "eh, why not." I began work on it roughly a week ago, and from the old engine this is what I've managed to build. Hey, if the old topic/engine don't make no justice before you download the actual thing, here's some screens:  Wow, a save station, mommy!  Fighting some bat good ol' CV style  Game Over  The omnipotent fire whip  I BANISH THEE ALL TO WHENCE YOU CAME FROM, WITH THE ALMIGHTY POWER OF THE HOLY BIBLE!!! Controls - Arrow Keys - Move Shift - Jump (hold to jump higher) Ctrl - Whip Up+Ctrl - Sub-weapon Z - Switch sub-weapon X - Switch whip Q/A - Increase/Decrease magic W/S - Increase/Decrease health (hold S for roughly five seconds to induce a Game Over) Yeah well here ya go: This post has been edited by Tri on Dec 30 2007, 09:35 AM

Unless memory fails me, the bats in every 2d game to date fly in one direction. They swoop down and fly towards the player (ie left/right) and then keep going in that direction. These bats are killer bats.
The afterimage needs work. It's not a bar of color but rather the sprite of Juste (Soma, Alucard, etc). It's very easy to do, actually. So I guess you could take the object you're using now and just change things a little bit. Just do this where you create it:
