Firefox has a lot less security problems than IE, largely because it's open-source unlike IE, and problems can be submitted and fixed quickly by a variety of people.

because Firefox has tabs and IE (before 7) doesn't.

Firefox is still better because IE7 is painfully slow and annoying.

first of all firefox is open-source software which means its code can be audited and fixed by the entire world, making any potential security problems pose no major threat

microsoft internet explorer makes no respectable attempt at compliance to web standards. it has its own rules for how it thinks pages should look. firefox (and other browsers such as opera, konqueror, etc.) conform much closer to the real rules of (x)html and css

firefox is more extendable due to its massive library of extensions and themes. same can't be said of internet explorer
or any microsoft product really

Actually, my IE6 has tabs because of Yahoo toolbar.

They work very slowly compared to Firefox's, though, it seems.


I primarily use Firefox, but for some reason it screws up when I try to take a Blackboard quiz/test or use the Blackboard Discussion Board system, and I very often have to do that stuff for classes. So I use IE for that (and for times when Firefox locks up until restart time when a Blackboard-related error occurs).

yeah blackboard is gay but it doesn't give me any trouble when I use my school's hosted version in epiphany (mozilla-based)

seriously though moodle > blackboard

opera is indeed a fine browser and I would use it on my computer however I currently have no closed-source software on my computer at all and I am aiming to keep it that way
