Just to start off with apologies, This may or may not offend you, but if it does, I am sorry in advance.



So, Today It was a very raining day and I was waiting for my dad as usual at College. I see him coming in through the lot of cars. As he gets ready to pull in, I head towards the car to get in from the rain. My dad brings up the a really touchy topic about the people who are running for President. He started saying things like, "I'm not voting for Obama, because he is just running, because he is black and wants to be the first black President. I'm not voting for Hilary, because she is just running, because she is a woman and wants to be the first woman President."


Now, Don't get me wrong, I respect my dad's way of thinking, but I was a bit upset, because he was asking me if I would vote for them. I honestly said I didn't know who I was going to vote for, because I haven't heard any of their campaigns and that I couldn't judge the people by the way they look or gender. My dad was really upset at me and was telling me that I shouldn't vote for a woman or a black person. I was shocked by the way he was thinking. I know he's Republican and I am too, but I didn't think he was that extreme. So, with me being upset I asked him a fair question, "what if I black woman wanted to run, would you vote for her?" and he said "no, because she is running because she is black and a woman!"


Ok, At this point I am mad and just blurted out, "Well, we might as well stick with all male white Presidents, because Women and other races aren't worthy to your standards of expectations."

My dad tells me, "Well, they're only voting because they want to be the first women or black President". At this point I was really confused and upset, because my dad was acting like this.

I don't know if it's consider Racism and or Sexism. it's just ugh

After thinking about that whole arguement between my dad and I. It made me realize that I wasn't sure of myself if I am a Democrat, Moderate, or Republican. Really confusing, but I would say for the most part now that I am more of a Moderate than anything else. (I know I said I was Republican in the story.)

Tell me if I mis-understood what my dad was saying, because politics in general to me is just whacky.

Also, Discuss if you think the people who are running for President, Do you think any one of them has a good moral in mind? if so, which one and why?

So he's a racist and a sexist?

Well,

I agree I wouldn't want them to run for the sake of "olol looki me first woman/black prez", but that's not really the case, is it?

And I'm still undecided as to who I'm voting for anyway. :\

If they were running for President. I suppose so...but other than that he doesn't talk down to women and doesn't look down upon other ethnicities.

What he said is really extreme, but you really shouldn't vote for some just because he's black or she's a girl.

Personally, Hilary sucks ass. Obama's kind of cool, but I don't know too much about his policies to make an informed opinion.


I'm a republican, and I will support Huckabee.

True that, I just couldn't put in my thought about it, because like I said, I haven't heard anything from them.

I wouldn't vote for Hilary either, but that's for a different reason. I mean srsly, when you're president, does it really matter if you're a man or a woman?

He's assuming they'd be running to be the first woman/black president because there has yet to BE a woman/black president, and thus they would end up being first. Does he know if they are running to be "the first" or just running to be a president in general? If you completely ignore someone because of their gender or race because you think they're trying to be first, there won't ever be a first so that people will stop "trying to be first".

That's my uninformed view.

but it honestly feel like all the people are voting for obama while all the women are voting clinton

i'm not saying their primary goal to have this title. But i certainly think they are using who they are to their advantage.

I do not believe presidents should be judges for thier race or sex. I think what actions they will take is more important.

I consider myself a moderate. I generally support the Republican party, but I think the Democrats have much better ideas on how to fix the economy.

Obama, to me, seems like he'll be a neo-Jimmy Carter. He has great ideas, but I'm not sure how well he'll be able to carry them out. I don't mind Hillary, but I probably won't vote for her.
