| QUOTE (Fawfulhasfury @ Mar 3 2008, 02:41 PM) | I meant doing levels more in that vein. Like a rollercoaster ride boss, where you fight a boss on an endless rollercoaster ride. Which would of course, be tough to make, but it would be extremely inventive.
A carousel would be fun to do, but I don't actually recommend stealing the ideas.
The cowboy boss, for instance, is the sort of thing Wario would end up fighting, but I'd only use it as inspiration.
I'm saying, don't hold back on boss inventiveness just because the idea seems tough to make. We should make the bosses a lot more inventive and cool. Though I would love to do similar things, like the music level. But steal the whole thing? No. |
Yeah, I was starting to think that. Wacky is the Wario Bros' specialty. While we could have one or two worlds related to each other on both games, each one should have different stuff of course too.

I finally remembered to post! I thought up something for the first world for the Mario Bros. Instead of a generic plain/field/something, it would be more of like a valley or gorge or something. Lots of flatness and grass like a standard grassland level, but in the background there would be rock and grassy walls with randomly scattered cave entrances. There would archeological dig sites here and there as well, with at least one level going into the hillside. Boss would still be Petey Piranha. The world could have a sunset sort of atmosphere, or maybe just towards the end of the level. The battle with Petey Piranha could take place atop a hill with the large setting sun in the center of the background, making a sort of a dramatic setting. The only name I can think of for it, though, is "Ancient Valley". I'll draw up some concept art tomorrow to show you more of what I mean. WeeeeAlso, I thought of a name for the melting ice world. Shrinking Snowland. Does that sound good? This post has been edited by Peardian on Mar 28 2008, 01:45 PM

| QUOTE (B.M. @ Mar 7 2008, 10:22 AM) | As the only boss? I believe the answer is no. We've been working our way through the story and Bowser has been decided to be placed there, with a mix level I believe. As bosses placed throughout the level? Doubtful. I'm not quite sure, but I believe we're trying to keep it to one boss per world, with maybe a few of our recurring MFGG made mini-bosses showing up. I don't think having to run through 7 Koopalings in the way we have the world set up (in our heads) would work. Then again, I could be horribly wrong and everyone will love your idea, but don't get your hopes up. |
Actually, no, Bowser doesn't show up until the last world.
And considering Bowser doesn't realize the Teams' presence until the end of the world, the Koopa Kids would make a much more fitting boss for, say, World 7.
By the way, there is an entire topic dedicated to discussion on this. :X

NOTE: If you don't know who Aurian is, check the Sprite Workshop, he's a boss I made up.
Level: Aurian's Arrival
After plummeting through the fierce underground sewers, Mario and Luigi arrive in a rocky, mountain setting. After reaching the end of the world, they stumble into the Boss Level and get through an intense rocky mountain, they arrive in a small chamber where Aurian is studying a set of ancient tablets. A thwomp is guarding the entrance to Aurian, and when he sees the Bros. he jumps on the thwomp and rides him up and out of the chamber. Mario and Luigi wall jump after him, and finally they reach the top of a really windy mountain. Aurian then reveals himself to be the so-called "Master of the Talisman," and demands Mario and Luigi give him what they have collected. The Bros. refuse and engage in a battle. After defeating Aurian, he will bomb the mountain and dissapate, and Mario and Luigi will be thrown into the ice world.
Level: Aurian's Aura
The team arrives at the temple, chased closely by Bowser and Kamek. Just before plodding up the steps of the temple, Aurian jumps off of a nearby rock formation where he was hiding and attacks the Bros. in a last attempt at getting the talisman pieces. Once his HP starts to get low, he will emit an Aura and it will KO the player. Then a cutscene comes in and the Mario Bros. lay there, hurt unimagineably, when Bowser or Kamek arrives. Bowser or Kamek becomes enraged at Aurian because it was THERE job to take out the Bros., and Bowser or Kamek unleashes an attack and sends the weakened Aurian blasting away. Bowser or Kamek steals the talisman pieces and rockets through to claim the prize. Mario and Luigi recover, and trudge the temple to stop Bowser or Kamek and claim the prize. Little known to them that a prize isn't what is in store- a bigger, badder boss is.
Final Boss Battle:
Whoever the final boss will be can have Aurian there to help him every once in a while, seeing as how he is loyal to the final boss, his master. He'll sort of be like the Fawful ghost that you fight in the stomach of Bowser when you battle Cackletta's spirit.
NOTES: Mario and Luigi can be replaced with Wario and Waluigi, I just didn't want to type both. These are just ideas. Don't start saying, "OH YOUR IDEAS SUCK," just saying they don't fit will be fine with me. I can just picture this in my head, though, as an intense boss.

isnt the underground sewer in world 3? Where the city is and you have to fight the sewer monster with Wario bros or against them.

...I brought this up in another topic, like, just a second ago, but didn't see this topic, where it FITS FAR BETTER.
...
I like the idea of, since the game involves a treasure hunt and all...we could have the Wario Bros. needing to steal a treasure from Captain Syrup. It could be a deserted, pirate island world. I'd say that since she's a fairly "major" enemy to take on, she should be late in the game...but obviously not their last boss or anything. World 6 seems like a good placement to me. It could be Syrup's Cove or something, the name.
Maybe World 5 ends with them noticing that the next treasure on their map is on an island, and they steal one of Kamek's broomsticks to get there or somesuch. That'd give us a reason for why he chases them beyond "Bowser told him", too.
Just a suggestion, though.
I enjoy the idea of a city stage...perhaps it could be based off the Mushroom City/Moonview Highway stages in Mario Kart. I like the idea of having a stage set at night time.
Also...for the first world for Wario Bros., I think maybe they should go into "familiar" territory, but different from Mario and Luigi. They were running from them in the beginning, and couldn't have gotten too far, but to keep it from being the same generic "plains" level, we could have a locale in the Mushroom Kingdom that isn't too distant, but different. Perhaps venture into Forever Forest and fight Boos, and reach the mansion itself to take a treasure from Lady Bow and have to fight a Boolossus-esque amalgam of all the Boos of Boo Mansion.
...I dunno.

All right, I got a world idea. This time, for the Warios. I was planning on saving this for when I drew it (like I drew the ancient valley thing), but I might not get around to that for a while. So, here it goes.
Basically, a canyon world. It would act as the first world for the Wario Team. The world starts out on a normal plains type level nearby a canyon. The first level would be a standard grassland level to get the player used to the game. The second level is a cave level / mine shaft level, which may or may not involve a mine cart segment. All the levels after that take place down inside the canyon itself.
Now to describe the canyon. It is very very deep, with no visible bottom, only darkness. All the levels would take place on trails and ledges along the side or pathways crossing the middle. There could also be a cave level if so desired, with the cave entrance on the canyon wall. In the middle or at one end of the canyon is a huge stone spire thingy with a unique shape that acts as the distinguishing landmark to let the Wario Bros. know they are in the right spot. Of course, it would have to be visible from where the Warios start their quest. Inside the canyon itself are gigantic fossils. Arching dinosaur skeletons with rib bones as thick as a house span the gap of the canyon, sometimes supported by hoodoos. Some of these bones would be unstable, so some of them could start to fall out of the wall when stepped on, and some could maybe even be forced out of place. There would also be smaller fossils (still large) used to decorate the land and such.
Not sure about enemies and such. I have no idea what the boss could be, and only a vague idea of what the enemies would be like. Aside from Wanderin' Gooms in the first level, I guess there would probably be some miner-looking and boney enemies. Maybe an enemy that sorta looks similar to a Wario version of a Metool or something. Maybe something will come to me when I draw it out and color it.
Edit: Oh yeah, and setting it at sunset would definately add to the atmosphere.
