Y'know who should be like a secret boss or something? King Koopa, as in the guy from the original SMB. Not 8-bit, inc CFP style, with a remastered version of the final level of SMB.

That sounds cool and all, but wouldn't that be a tad confusing considering Bowser is already in the game in his current design? Unless we put it in that 8-bit area people have been talking about.

Though, what would the Warios have? We can't forget about them. So far most of the ideas have been for the Marios.

QUOTE (Peardian @ Mar 31 2008, 11:07 PM)
A mini-boss concept from Someguy:

Sumo Thwomp

Basically, a large cubish Thwomp, like the one from Super Mario 64, but with arms and legs and a typical sumo diaper thing. It would be faced on a circular platform, kind of like a sumo ring, but with a pit of spikes instead of a simple line on the ground. The large Thwomp stands and looks menacingly at Mario/Wario, and occasionally stomping the ground sumo-style, causing rocks to fall from the ceiling and maybe even stun the player like the Sledge Bros. of SMB3. After a bit the Sumo Thwomp will charge, attempting to push Mario/Wario off into the spikes unless the player uses one of the rocks that fell to the ground to hop over him. As the boss teeters on the edge of the ring, the player needs to run behind and push against the boss to shove him into the spikes. The boss will launch back out in pain and continue the fight, maybe increasing the speed/magnitude of the attacks slightly. Doing this three times would finish it for good.

This mini-boss could really work for either Mario or Wario, but given that it's based on a classic Mario enemy, it might fit in best on the Mario side.

I'll try and draw up some concept art of it when I get the chance.

I know this is not my forte' but I couldn't help notice this post.

I created a Thwomp sprite for something pretty similar to this, only missing it's lower half of the body as seen in this sheet

perhaps that could be incorporated?

Nice, but I don't think that's exactly what he had in mind. I plan on drawing up some concept art of him eventually.

Regardless, that could make a good enemy in the same level. A bit tougher than a normal enemy, but not quite a mini-boss. Of course, the sprites would have to be touched up to match the style. Still, I think it has potential. :D

I still kind of like the idea of a Mask Koopa Mech. You know, the little SMW guys from hitting the Special World Switch? I don't think I have the concept drawing I made of it anymore.

Since Bowser isn't involved until World 5, it could be easy to implement them as enemies...we could have for...World 2 or something, a gang of Mask Koopa thieves who are in possession of one of the treasures.

I dunno which brothers would fight it, but it would basically be a...giant robotic Mask Koopa with one of them (the leader of this gang, I guess) in the pilot seat. It would throw the Mario masks at you like koopa shells (just as they worked in SMW) as its main attack, and would also have generic robot necessities such as lasers and rockets.

The main way of beating it would be to throw the masks back at its head. After...five bops or so, the head would fall off the robot and start spinning around like an oversized koopa shell. Then you'd need three well-timed jumps to finish it off for good.
