REQUIREMENTS~1) Quality >>> Quantity. Rushed works do not belong here.
Do not start posting random junk you made in 5 minutes, knowing that it is rushed, and post it here. If you drew something really quickly and felt like posting it somewhere, feel free to post it in the
WIP/sketch forum.
Of course, anyone can post here, regardless of skill. Do not fear that your drawings aren't arts board worthy! There's a difference between quality and skill; quality results from skill, and some people do not have the skill to post extremely high quality art, and that's fine. If you truly worked hard on a drawing that others feel looks subpar, don't be harsh on yourself since you did your best. However, if you could have done a much better job than what you posted, then it is highly recommended to NOT post it here.
Here's an example. Here are two drawings made by me, guess which one is higher quality than the other:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y235/Ashurasonic/ex1.pnghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y235/Ashu...pplantfinal.pngWhich one looked like it took 1 minute, and which one looked like it took over 2 hours?
2) Artistic freedom is not always applicable in this board. Pornography for instance, is not allowed here.
Just to clear things up:
Pornography =/= Artistic nudity. Artistic nudity involves using nude pictures of men or women and settings to show a moral. It is restricted based on what we accept. However, Pornography simply arouses the person viewing it. Artistic nudity is allowed to some extent, but
remember to add a warning in the topic you are posting it on. Children post here and they might be disturbed seeing nudity even if isn't meant to arouse them; it should be up to them to decide if they want to view it or not. Also, keep the nudity to a minimum, especially if the artistic nudity involves a person's underprivates. Exposed breasts are fine as long as they aren't meant to arouse anyone viewing it.
Cartoon nudity is not allowed, even censored ones. If you like drawing lolicon, hentai or any of that nasty stuff, post it somewhere where adult material is allowed; we don't want it and you
WILL BE PERMABANNED FOR POSTING IT. Even if you provide a warning, it's still not allowed. Just a friendly warning!
Basically anything you make that is obscene/offensive will be deleted and you'll be permabanned as a result.RECOMMENDATIONS~1) The longer the better. To make a higher quality picture, try using drawing time frames.
Drawing time frames are specified time limits for your drawings. Give yourself a minimum time limit for your drawing; if you're more experienced, you can also give yourself a maximum time limit for your drawing. For example, I have a minimum time limit of 30 minutes for my drawings, and 3 hours for my maximum. If people do not like your art, but you worked on it for at least 30 minutes, they might recognize that it has some effort into it. Most importantly though, be satisfied that you worked on it so long and don't give up.
2) Help yourself by utilizing others. Use a reference when drawing.
References are useful to get a drawing right. A reference is any material that could aid you in drawing an object. Whether it would be looking at photos of hands to get a drawing of a hand to look right, or see the bone structure of a human to see if your person is anatomically correct, references are useful. Professional artists use it, don't be afraid to be reliant on them! You'll improve; this is from personal experience.
If you receive criticism that "the hands look funny", then try to look at a picture of a hand and see what you can correct.
http://www.fineart.sk is a decent place for anatomy references.
http://www.picsearch.com is a decent place for any reference.
err, have fun!
